Four teams were eliminated from The International 2024, and 1win was the last to go, after being walked over by Team Falcons.

After a string of upper bracket series yesterday at The International 2024, today we would wave goodbye to four teams in the lower bracket, as we inched ever closer to the main event and a new champion being crowned. Talon Esports, Team Zero, and nouns, had all seen their tournament lives come to an end. Now it was time for the final elimination of the day, as 1win took on Team Falcons, with both teams looking to make their way into TI13’s Main Event.

As one of the favourites to take the Aegis of Champions this year, Falcons definitely had a shaky Group Stage and a close call during their Seeding Decider. Alongside this, Falcon’s loss to Tundra Esports, and 1w’s earlier win over Zero would have made them feel slightly better about their chances to survive. However, game 1 made them realise that they would not have an easy way to stay in TI2024. Right off the bat, Falcons were in control, with Oliver “Skiter” Lepko’s Weaver avoiding death for almost the entire game.

Going a game down took all the wind out of 1win’s sails, and invigorated Falcons, who were just absolutely dominant in game 2. The splattering of kills that 1win picked up here and there was never going to be enough to challenge Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potoraks Sniper, who was ahead from minute one – bullying Ilya “CHIRA_JUNIOR” Chirtsovs Monkey King out of the mid-lane. It took less than half an hour for 1w to throw in the towel, as their TI2024 dreams came to a crushing end.

With that, 1win exited The International 2024, joining three other teams eliminated today in the lower bracket. Tomorrow, September 10th, we will see another four teams have their hopes removed for the Aegis of Champions as we draw nearer to the Main Event.
