The top seeds of the Group Stage also earned direct byes to the upper bracket semifinals.
The Dota 2 Clavision: Snow Ruyi Invitational concluded its Group Stage on Tuesday (July 30) with Team Spirit and G2.iG finishing atop both groups and receiving direct byes to the second round of the upper bracket in the Playoffs.
While all 10 teams competing in the tournament will advance to the double-elimination Playoffs, the six best-performing teams in the Group Stage will be seeded into the upper bracket while the four bottom-seeded squads will have to start in the lower bracket. The top-seeded team in each group will also be qualified directly to the upper bracket semifinals.
Spirit and G2.iG lead the pack heading to the upper bracket with Natus Vincere (NAVI), Nigma Galaxy, LGD Gaming, and Xtreme Gaming right behind them. Meanwhile, Virtus.pro (VP), Azure Ray, Team Zero, and Talon Esports will have to fight to stay longer in the tournament to start the Playoffs.
Here's how the final day of the Clavision: Snow Ruyi Invitational Group Stage played out:
Chinese teams show signs of life ahead of Playoffs
After underperforming in the first two days of the Group Stage, the Chinese teams finally bounced back, with three of the two home squads securing Playoff spots.
G2.iG finished atop the standings of Group B with a 3-1 record after winning their first two matches in the previous two days of competition. Day three saw them fall in three games to fellow Chinese squad Xtreme, though they quickly bounced back to hand a streaking Nigma Galaxy their first loss of the tournament.
Nigma also had a 3-1 record, though their loss to G2.iG meant they finished as Group B's second seed. Nigma cemented their Playoff spot by sweeping Talon Esports, who notably finished the Group Stage without a single match win. Xtreme also finished with a 3-1 standing, though their loss to Nigma Galaxy dropped them to third place in the head-to-head tiebreakers.
Over in Group A, Eastern European squads occupied the Top 2 spots. Spirit finished atop the standings with a 3-1 record, scoring back-to-back wins over Team Zero and LGD to complete their Group Stage campaign. NAVI took the second seed with a 2-2 standing, having lost the opportunity to usurp Spirit after getting upset by Team Zero.
LGD also finished with a 2-2 record, scoring a crucial sweep over VP to take the last upper bracket spot for their group and sending their opponents down to the lower bracket. While Team Zero are also heading to the lower bracket, they do have some momentum behind them after pulling off an upset over NAVI and forcing Spirit to three games.
