Shopify Rebellion will not be heading to The International 2024 after losing to nouns in a full 3:0 sweep.
Just because something isn't unexpected doesn't mean it doesn't still hurt – and a lot.
Shopify Rebellion's loss to nouns also signaled the end of a TI streak for Artour "Arteezy" Babaev. The famed core player has been competing on The International stage since TI4 with Evil Geniuses. From TI4 through TI12 marks nine consecutive appearances and no Aegis of Champions. Missing this year is a mighty huge blow to take.
Six months ago SR caught their fans by surprise with their roster announcement where they kept only two players from the previous season, Arteezy and SabeRLight- along with coach Kanishka "BuLba" Sosale. Since then the North American team struggled immensely this season. Subpar results have led to nonstop tinkering with Shopify's roster. The latest was less than two weeks ago when Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek was replaced by Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov.
No amount of changing offlaners or players overall seemed to do the trick.
In a full sweep, Nouns made quick work of Shopify to claim the qualifier slot to represent North America at The International 2024.
The (main) season ends here for both the organization and Arteezy. Shopify failed to qualify for Riyadh Masters (also losing the slot at the hands of nouns not too long ago). There is no word for what will be in store for either in the upcoming season but there is still plenty of time to figure things out and many pubs to play in the meantime.
