(Parts of) Nigma head to PGL Wallachia Season 1 with Shopify Rebellion

Shopify Rebellion will not be fielding a full roster at PGL Wallachia Season 1. Instead, they will get help from Nigma Galaxy.

PGL Wallachia Season 1 is scheduled to begin in just two days time. And the hits just keep coming.

Despite it being the first event planned in a three-year plan from PGL that includes eight Dota 2 tournaments – each with one million dollars on the line to be held across 2024, 2025, and 2026 – the event organizers are having trouble keeping the teams and rosters lined up in order.

Two days ago it was reported that Tundra would not be able to compete at the event. According to PGL, Tundra failed to meet several deadlines for registering a valid roster due to visa issues. Mouz will be making their debut back into Dota 2 instead.

Then the Southeast Asia representative Blacklist International faced the same issues in securing the travel documents for all their members and have been replaced by Azure Ray

Now, Shopify Rebellion will be arriving with two stand-in players.

One week ago SR bid farewell to Thiago "Thiolicor" Cordeiro. So a replacement for him was expected. What wasn't expected was to see a second stand-in listed for the team.

Nigma Galaxy are supplying the two replacement players. Nigma has continued to fall horribly short of prestigious appearances or decent events for some time now, so the MENA-based team was just sitting on the sidelines, waiting for another opportunity to contract players out.

Erin Jasper "Yopaj" Ferrer will be rejoining the team right after the conclusion of PGL, just in time for DreamLeague Season 23.

Shopify Rebellion PGL Wallachia Season 1 roster:

Artour “Arteezy” Babaev
Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan
Jonáš “SabeRLighT-” Volek
Maroun “GH” Merhej
Kartik “Kitrak” Rathi

PGL Wallachia Season 1 dates and format

PGL will be hosting the whole event at their studios in Bucharest, Romania, from May 10 to 16th with no live audience. The 16 teams will start the competition in a modified "Swiss System" group stage that will feature five rounds of best-of-three series.

At the end of the group play, the top eight teams will advance to the playoffs. The playoffs stage will be played in a double elimination bracket, best-of-three series with the grand finals being a best-of-five battle for the title.
