Aurora are the first team eliminated from Group Stage 2 of DreamLeague Season 22

After a decent showing in Group Stage 1 of DreamLeague Season 22, Aurora slumped to a 0-5 record in Group Stage 2 to become the first team to get eliminated.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going – that is a saying Aurora will learn from as they are the first team to exit DreamLeague Season 22 from Group Stage 2. The Southeast Asian team was undefeated in Group Stage 1 when all the series were best-of-2. But in Group Stage 2, where all series are best-of-3, they failed to register a series win in their first five games, and hence, will be the first ones exiting the tournament from the final eight teams.

Aurora had a chance to survive another day if they could have defeated OG. The SEA team came very close to doing just that, but in the end, OG proved to be a bit too strong. Aurora lost 1-2 after winning the first game, and will have to play the rest of the tournament with nothing at stake.

The first game was a straightforward win for Aurora. They were off to the perfect start in order to survive in the tournament.

Game 2 is where Aurora could have clinched it. There was a point till which Aurora had a sizeable net worth lead, although with an Alchemist in their ranks, and also had the win probability in their favour. But OG fought back to restore parity. It turned out to be an 88 minute back and forth game which could have gone either way. There were Divine Rapiers strewn all over the map. In the end, a botched high ground seize from Aurora even when they had an Aegis of the Immortal on their Alchemist led to their downfall. It was a great game to watch though, and one worth going back to watch the highlights.

Game 3 was also a close game till the very end, and it was OG’s temporary carry, Enzo “Timado” Gianoli that was the standout factor in this one. He played a flawless 11/0/5 Weaver and came up with the perfect way to burst down enemy heroes with Revenant’s Brooch. This was an ingenious performance to say the least.

With the win, OG keep themselves in the top half of the pack in the running for a playoff spot. Team Falcons and BetBoom Team seem like the two teams that are bound to get two of the four playoff spots. The other two are up for bids for five teams!

Aurora, even though they are out of DreamLeague Season 22, can take heart from the fact that they made the top eight. They can take their learnings from here and hope to perform better in all the upcoming high prize pool tournaments this season has to offer.
