Team Spirit are your first TI12 grand finalists

Team Spirit give LGD Gaming TI10 flashbacks as they reach the TI12 grand finals with a monster Magnus performance.

The International 2023 is approaching the finish line and the first to claim a spot in the grand finals are Team Spirit, who survived an extremely resilient LGD Gaming to get one series away from a two-peat.

Collapse Magnus magic is back

Two years after Team Spirit defeated LGD in the TI10 grand finals with mesmerizing Magnus plays, the Eastern European team gave the Chinese a quick reminder on the TI12 main stage of who is the best Magnus player.

Game one between Spirit and LGD went on for 76 minutes as LGD were able to put up an incredible high ground defense. Past the 60 minute mark, when the Tier 5 neutral items came into play, LGD got a Giant’s Ring on Li "niu" Kongbo’s Centaur Warruner and repealed Spirit from their base a couple of times nearly making a full mega creeps comeback.

However, in what gave everyone TI10 flashbacks, it was Collapse who made a huge difference in the game with his Skewer-RPs that allowed Team Spirit to lock in the win.

“Magnus is a good hero and in the first game, we tried to steal it from them. We tried to do the same in game two,” said coach Airat "Silent" Gaziev at the end of the series, after Team Spirit reached the grand finals with a Morphling response to LGD’s Magnus first pick in game two.

Despite Morphing losing a total of six games on the TI12 main stage, Spirit went for it with a clear objective in mind. They took advantage of a free laning stage for Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk and outplayed LGD with a Magnus of their own to take a quick and clean second game victory.
