The teams heading to Division I for DPC 2023 Spring Tour

Division II of the DPC 2023 Winter Tour has finally come to an end, revealing which 12 teams have been promoted to Division I for the upcoming Spring Tour.

Although relegation from Division I to Division II can feel like a walk of shame to some teams, for Division II relegation can mean promotion into Division I, full of opportunities and hope.

A handful of teams from the open/closed qualifiers have earned a chance to prove themselves and gain some highly coveted DPC points toward The International 2023.

Alliance had quite a rough go of the DPC 2021-22 season —full of shakeups and trips to both Division I and Division II in the regional league. They just couldn't seem to pull things together and in the end released their full roster. But Simon "Handsken" Rasmus Haag and Gustav "s4" Magnusson's return to the organization didn't help the team to promote to Division I and they will be spending another tour battling in Division II.

At least they will be in good company. Few would have predicted Team Secret's fall from grace in the first tour of the 2023 DPC season, but the team had more difficulties gelling with Miroslav “BOOM” Bičan replacing Michal “Nisha” Jankowski.

Now that the Division II league play is finally over, here are the 12 teams that will be heading to Division I for the Spring Tour:

Western Europe

Eastern Europe

China

Southeast Asia

North America

South America

Spring Tour

This year’s DPC is still split into three Tours - Winter, Spring, and Summer, but the schedule for the regional leagues went down from six weeks to just three. However, the two divisions of each regional league will not be played in the same time frame anymore. Division II starts once Division I matches are over.

  • Division 1 Regional League Tournament: March 12 - April 2, 2023
  • Division 2 Regional League Tournament: April 4 - 25, 2023
  • Major Tournament: April 26 - May 7, 2023

The second Major will be held in Berlin, Germany beginning April 26, but fans will be able to watch live at Velodrom Arena from May 5-7th.
