Group B matches at PGL Arlington Major are done and dusted and two teams have already been sent packing.
Tundra Esports and Natus Vincere will have to watch the playoffs from the sidelines after being eliminated on the fourth day of the group stage matches. Their early exit also meant that the rest of the teams from Group B could sigh with relief as nobody else could have ended their Major run at this stage of the competition due to Xtreme Gaming’s withdrawal from the tournament.
Evil Geniuses in particularly were in great danger since they finished the group stage with a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Entity. However, it was NAVI’s loss to Team Spirit that saved the NA representative from elimination. Along with EG, beastcoast have also made it to the playoffs lower bracket after a rather inconsistent performance with 1 victory, 4 draws and 2 losses.
NAVI’s elimination means that they will now have to regroup and focus on the TI11 regional qualifiers after they finished the DPC year with just 341 points to their name. Tundra, however, sit in sixth place in the DPC rankings with 1212 points and have a fair chance to remain in the top 12 even without making it to the playoffs at the final Major of the year.
Group B will not feature any tiebreakers. Team Aster, Entity, Team Spirit and BOOM Esports are the top four who will move on to the upper bracket playoffs and will have a day off until their next matches, as the last day in the group stage will feature only teams from Group A.
