The first four teams - from EU, NA, SA, and CIS have qualified for the EPICENTER Major following the group stage for each region.
All of the six regions have officially begun the closed qualifiers for EPICENTER Major. EU, CIS, NA, and SA have already determined the first seeds and team to represent their regions, as well as eliminated three teams per region. The first teams for SEA and China will be determined later today.
EU
There was little surprise that Team Secret was the first team to claim a spot at the EPICENTER Major. The European giants have just come off their impressive performance and Championship victory at the MDL Disneyland Paris Major. Despite the fatigue associated with travel and long marathons in a LAN tournament, Team Secret dominated the group stage, losing only one match against their regional rivals, Team Liquid. Their success gave them the first place seed and a direct ticket to the last DPC event.
Unfortunately, three teams - Aachen City Esports, The Final Tribe and Singularity bid farewell to their Moscow dreams by the end of the group stage of the qualifiers. Only NiP, OG, Team Liquid and Alliance are left standing for the playoff brackets. Two of them will be victorious at the end for claiming a spot.
CIS
In the CIS region, most favored the CIS powerhouse Virtus.pro. Those were greatly surprised however when it was Gambit that ended up usurping the kings for the first seed and direct route to EPICENTER Major. The CIS team, who had struggled at the Dota PIT Minor with a last-place finish came to the EPICENTER qualifiers ready to fight. Their only loss? Against the mighty VP.
FlyToMoon was eliminated without finding a single victory, along with Black Hornets and Team Spirit - who had just signed the Old but Gold roster on the Eve of the closed qualifiers. Team Empire, Na'Vi, Winstrike, and VP will battle it out in the playoff stage for the final remaining spot to represent the home region at the LAN event.
NA
Across the pond over in North America, Forward Gaming came out of nowhere to destroy their opponents in the group stage. Without dropping a single match, the new lineup has shown their cards and strength, taking the first seed and spot to represent NA in Russia.
Team Xolotl, Black Sheep and Young Drug Gaming all bid farewell after failing to take enough wins to advance to the playoffs. Evil Geniuses, beastcoast, J.Storm, and compLexity will fight for the remaining spot for the last Major of the DPC 2018-2019 season.
SA
South America seemed like a crapshoot to most fans before the event kicked off. The region has been rocked with much instability and underdog wins in the last few months that it seemed the matches could be anyones for the taking. In the end, it was paiN Gaming that came out ahead with a 6:1 record, dropping their only match to the second place team Gorillaz Pride. paiN Gaming booked their ticket to Moscow as their peers - Gorillaz Pride, Infamous, EgoBoys, and Thunder Predator will continue to battle it out for the last spot.
Freestyle, formerly known as Majestic Esports who had an impressive showing at the Dota PIT Minor, Midas Club, and SG Esports are already out of contention as the playoffs are set to begin tonight.
EPICENTER Major
The last DPC event will take place in Moscow, Russia at the VTB Ice Palace June 22-30, with 16 teams competing for the lion's share of the $1,000,000 prize pool. As with all DPC events, there will be no direct invites. All 16 participants will need to qualify, 14 through the closed regional events and two teams via the StarLadder Minor.
