Forward Gaming continues to be a force to be reckoned with as they seize the ESL One Birmingham 2019 slot for North America.
The ESL One Birmingham 2019 North America qualifiers were stacked with regional talent. All four teams were viable contenders for the spot and considering recent performances and achievements of them all, it was certainly anyone's victory.
compLexity Gaming started out as the frontrunners for the event. They cruised through the first two upper bracket rounds undefeated, sweeping their opponents down to the lower brackets each time for a smooth slide into the grand finals.
Forward Gaming had recent success, clinching the OGA Dota Pit Minor spot and then almost immediately after claiming the Qi Invitational Americas title. In the first round of the ESL One Birmingham 2019 qualifiers, however, they were simply overpowered by Team Team 2:0 and dropped quickly to the lower road. It was there that they shined under the pressure and swept through both J.Storm and then Team Team to find themselves a place in the grand finals against compLexity.
As the two teams went toe to toe, it turned out to be a series that would favor Forward Gaming heavily, despite col having the one game win advantage from the upper brackets. Fans are once again asking what Yawar "YawaR" Hassan has eaten for breakfast. The Pakistani player has been playing like a beast in recent weeks, dominating his opponents and playing in top shape.
In a thrilling end, Forward took the slot with a 3:2 victory.
TeamLiquid, Evil Geniuses, Team Secret, PSG.LGD, OG, ViCi Gaming, Virtus.pro, and NiP were directly invited while TNC Predator and Keen Gaming have already qualified. One more team will join to represent Europe. Alliance and Old but Gold are scheduled to go head to head in the best-of-five grand finals at 18:00 CEST today to become the final team in Birmingham's lineup.
