ESL One Mumbai 2019 brings Dota 2 front and center in India for the first time on such a large scale.
Fans in India can look forward to attending a live Dota 2 event of the highest caliber in one of their own stadiums for the first time.
Twelve teams will be competing for a slice of the $300,000 prize pool April 19-21st. There will be seven directly invited teams and five qualified teams from NA, EU/CIS, China, SEA and India. Team announcements and qualifier information will be forthcoming.
Tickets for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the NSCI Dome in Mumbai will go on sale in just two days HERE. Age restriction is minimum of 12 years old or accompanied by an adult.
In 2015 ESL made a $1,000,000 pledge for Dota 2, bringing events to new parts of the world for the organization. ESL One Manilla 2016 as their first venture into Asia and the response was overwhelmingly positive and results were successful.
Since then the organization has invested in various leagues and events across more than 20 countries worldwide and shows no signs of slowing down. In September of 2018, ESL announced they were taking things to Indonesia and partnering up with Salim Group "to support local heroes and foster growth of community". In the provided press release regarding the venture, ESL stated:
"ESL and Salim will work together to develop a healthy and sustainable esports ecosystem for Indonesia. With a young population and as one of the fastest growing countries in the world, Indonesia is poised to become one of the biggest markets for the gaming industry.”
So far in the 2018-2019 Dota 2 season since The International 8, ESL has already taken Hamburg by storm, is getting ready to unleash the Dota 2 hype upon Katowice next month and has announced plans for Birmingham in May.
