ViCi Gaming cruised through the playoff brackets undefeated to challenge Team Secret in the grand finals of Captains Draft 4.0 Minor.
The second day of the playoff brackets saw three series of 2:0 sweeps across the board coming out from the teams. Tournament lives were on the line in each of the series, with three eliminations by the end of the night.
Captains Draft 4.0 Quarter finals:
ViCi Gaming took on the North American/European mix - compLexity Gaming with relative ease. The first match was heavily in favor of the Chinese representatives with standout performances by Zeng "Ori" Jiaoyang and Ren "eLeVeN" Yangwei, dominating coL in a mere 23 minutes. Whille the second match took slightly longer, Zhang "LaNm" Zhicheng's perfect execution and Zhang "Paparazi?" Chengjun's spectacular showing stole the spotlight and victory out from under the NA region's last hope.
Team Empire opened the second quarter finals series looking to cause some problems for OG. in both games of their series the CIS team took an early lead and held the advantage in the laning phase and early game. Unable to hold on to their position, OG were able to turn things around both times into their favor with team wipes entering into the mid-late game. Once wiping them out both times, OG showed how to capitalize on the momentum gained and maintained their grasp until the end.
Captains Draft 4.0 Semi finals:
Both VG and OG approached the semi finals uncontested and on a seemingly level playing field. Once again Paparazi? would be at the top of his game and steal the show with his incredible performances throughout the series. Outdrafting and outplaying the European squad, ViCi Gaming seemed to be on another level from their opponents. Despite Roman "Resolut1on" Fominok's fearsome Terrorblade and being the highest networth hero in the second game, he was unable to carry the team to victory as the rest of ViCi Gaming were much more farmed and powerful than the rest of OG overall. VG's back to back victories moved them to the final battle to face Team Secret in the grand finals.
The best-of-five Grand Finals will take place Sunday, January 7th 12:00 EST/18:00 CET between ViCi Gaming and Team Secret.
