ESL One returns to SEA after their success at Manila, this time around, their LAN event will be hosted at the Genting Highlands Resort, Malaysia.
With the LAN finals planned from the 6th to 8th of January next year, ESL One will be hosting the tournament at the popular leisure area called the Genting Highlands, which is about 60km north-east of the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. At the Genting Highlands resort, the tournament will be held at the Arena of Stars. Similar to ESL One Manila, the event will feature eight teams battling for the $250,000 prize pool.
With the event nearly half a year away, limited information has been released. Among the known details is that some teams will be directly invited, and some will have to play in the online qualifiers taking place for the SEA, China, Americas and Europe regions. As for the main event next year, it was revealed that cosplay and an ESL Shop can be expected.
Known for its theme parks and hotels, the Genting Highlands Resort is a popular tourist location that is highly accessible with the ability to handle large numbers of people due to the availability of over 9000 hotel rooms. The presence of accommodation in close proximity to the venue makes the location quite fitting for this multi-national event which saw 16,000 spectators taking part in their previous event in Manila.
