The European divison of MLG Pro League is currently ongoing, with NiP and HellRaisers dominating their respective groups. BBC's solid performance may be enough to challenge HellRaisers lead, while NiP can no longer feel threatened by Moscow Five as the Russians have played all their games.
The qualifiers of the first season of MLG Pro League started a month ago, and their conclusion is right around the corner. The European division is divided into two groups, only three teams can move on to the LAN playoffs at MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio on April 10th, the first placed teams of both groups will automatically advance, while the second placed teams will play each other in a deciding best of three to take the region's last seat at the LAN. A prize pool of at least stake $75,000 is on the line and for the overall winner and a further invitation to the MLG World Championships later this year.
HellRaisers are currently the undefeated leaders of the first group, with six victories in an equal number of matches. However, their lead seems rather fragile, as they are being closely followed by BBC (5-1). As for the rest of their challengers, the Swedish squad Alliance is hard at work to cover the lost ground caused by their recent roster instability, while the Greeks London Conspiracy have had a decent 5-5 run in a very demanding group. ASUS.Polar pulled out of the competition because the funds allocated for the LAN finals was very small.
In the second group, Ninjas in Pyjamas are looking strong, they've lost only one game so far to GameOnline. The swedes have performed well in online tounaments winning Esportal Invitational and the Area51 Dota Cup. Moscow Five are also looking good but they've finished all their games so they will be stuck at 9 points. Team Empire are currently sitting at third place and haven't found their form yet, the CIS juggernaut will have to get at least second place to have a shot at the LAN finals.
Meepwn'd has now officially disbanded, but its still unclear how the tournament will proceed since there is no statement from MLG.
The group stages are about to end, it'll be interesting to see who'll occupy the first and second spots in the two groups and move on to the LAN finals in Ohio.
