Our day 2 coverage continues here with round 13-15:

Round 13

HR vs CDEC 0-1

HellRaisers attempted to imitate the same pushing strategy used by TongFu against MVP earlier today, in order to overwhelm CDEC's squishy cores. However, both Mikasa and Maybe proved rathe elusive, with Mikasa's early Mekansm giving CDEC the sustainability they needed to survive the early game. With both teams being even in terms of gold and experience, the mid-game turned into one continuous teamfight over Roshan and important objectives. In the end, CDEC's drafting advantage and superior execution gave them the edge over HellRaisers, and the Russians were forced to forfeit by minute 35.

Cloud9 vs Big God 0-1

C9 used one of their classic four-protect-one selections with Antimage as the main carry against Big God's double-core Naga-Alchemist strategy. As both BurNing and EternalEnvy were against little pressure during the earlier stages of the game, the game quickly turned into a farming race between the two teams. Due to the presence of Naga Siren and Alchemist in Big God's lineup, C9 knew they could not stall the game for too long. However, with both bOne7 and n0tail being completely shut down, there was little they could do against the massive AOE damage coming out of BG's heroes. With two 6-slotted carries and a well-farmed Witch Doctor on their side, the Chinese squad took control of the game and finished the job by minute 55.

HGT vs Secret Team 0-1

Secret Team used a similar lineup as their previous game, swapping Techies for zai's common offlane Broodmother. HGT responded with one of their favorite snowball strategies, hoping they can shut down Arteezy's Shadow Fiend during mid-game teamfights. The laning stage went horribly for the Chinese, with both Zai and Arteezy find tremendous amounts of farm with the help of their two roaming supports. From that point, HGT never really had a chance - the game turned into a dominance show by the Western squad, ending with a rampage by Arteezy's Shadow Fiend inside the Dire base.

Round 14

Na'Vi vs EHOME 1-0

The Ukrainians selected some of their favorite heroes including a Bone Fletcher for Funn1k and a core Earthshaker for Dendi. EHOME responded with MuShi's Shadow Fiend and Ohaiyo's Batrider. The two teams were rather even during the earlier stages of the game, with MuShi's lane dominance making up for Zyf's lack of farm on his Lycan. As the items started pilling up for Na'Vi's three cores, it seemed that EHOME had trouble mitigating all the damage they took from Na'Vi, as they only seemed to be able to kill Dendi and VANSKOR in teamfights. With XBOCT and Funn1k getting stronger and stronger by the minute, MuShi had to resort to split-pushing in order to prevent any fatal pushes by Na'Vi. Nevertheless, he only delayed the inevitable, as the Dire eventually found the breakthrough they needed and wiped EHOME inside the Radiant base, finishing the game.

Rave vs Evil Geniuses 0-1

Rave decided to focus on shutting down SumaiL's Storm Spirit during the laning stage, knowing that he will be the primary weapon against their first position Lycan during the mid-game. The Americans seemed to be having trouble against the constant pressure, but SumaiL's individual days resulted in fair trades for the team. Despite having a significant lead during the first 20 minutes, the Philippine squad could not capitalize on their momentum and go for more serious objectives, even giving two easy Roshan kills to Fear's Troll Warlord. With SumaiL bouncing back into the game with the purchase of Orchid Malevolence and Black King Bar, Rave knew they had thrown away their immense early game advantage, losing an otherwise easy game because they did not finish the game when they had to.

Tongfu vs ViCi Gaming 0-1

The battle between Tongfu and ViCi Gaming is the definition of a stomp : with Black as their leader, ViCi managed to finish the game in just 15 minutes, with Black having a 15-1 score as Sniper. Tongfu certainly did not see that coming, as both their Spirit Breaker and Zeus selections seemed completely useless against their opponent's superior rotation and reactions. The 'GG' was called before any barracks go down, as Tongfu knew there was little they could do to come back into the game.

Round 15

Na'Vi vs Cloud9 1-0

LGD vs MVP.Phoenix 1-0

iG vs NewBee 1-0

After three consecutive losses in the groupstage, it was time for Invictus Gaming to retaliate by taking out their anger on NewBee. Using the unconventional Slardar selection for Luo, iG seemed to struggle for the first few minutes of the laning stage. However, by the early five-man teamfights they forced turned the game into a full-fledged stomp, with NewBee lacking the tools to prevent the massive amounts of damage coming from Sniper, Juggernaut and the Death Ward. IG kept the pressure going with their persistent ganking, and they even managed to teamwipe NewBee in their own base by minute 27.
