The final match series of WEC is currently under way to determine which team earns the gold in the tournament. With a 2-1 victory, Evil Geniuses managed to keep themselves in the race, taking the Grand Final to a second best-of-three match that will decide the champion.
World e-Sports Championship is slowly coming to an end, and only two teams remain in the battle for the ~$98,000 first place prize. The dual grand-final system has been put to work, and Evil Geniuses managed to grab the required first victory to take the series to a second best-of-three match. The winner of the upcoming duel will be the champion of WEC, and the defeated will finish second.
When it comes to the first series, EG entered the arena with much more confidence, and they were able to control both EternalEnvy's Tinker and FATA's Death Prophet from the earliest stages of the game. While both teams were able to demolish towers with ease, EG always had the required teamfight strength to seal the deal and grab the first victory.
Cloud9 used one of their pocket strategies for the second match, using a Beastmaster roam-support along with a very aggressive Spectre. The backbone of C9's offense was bOne7's Batrider, who managed to apply a lot of pressure on Fear's Sven and ppd's Warlock, emerging quite strong from the offlane and forcing EG to go defensive. In the end, the Americans crumbled against the strength of Spectre's Radiance and Death Prophet's Exorcism Spirits.
The tides turned once again in the last battle, with Evil Geniuses selecting UNiVeRsE's signature Faceless Void and giving Fear a surprising Shadow Shaman. On paper, C9 possessed the tools for earlier global aggression, but EG's rotations and decision-making much better compared to their opposition. As the game progressed, EternalEnvy's Bone Fletcher lacked the required burst damage required to snatch the advantage away from the Americans, and UNiVeRsE managed to snowball out of control, finishing the game with a Beyond Godlike streak.
