Over the last two years, Vietnamese Starcraft has been growing and some of their gamers have been coming up with noteworthy achievements. Classification for WCG and WCG participation was big thing for Starcraft gamers in Vietnam. Now they have set their goals to achieve good placements at PGTour. PGTour is a true venue for future WCG practice for Vietnamese Starcraft players. In the A rank range, the South Korean flag dominates the land field, but as time goes by, with practise and effort, a few Vietnamese are reaching those ranks.
In the fourth PGTour Season a Vietnamese gamer managed to place himself in the top 64 non-Korean ranks, or foreign ranks as we like to call them. This was a humble achievement for Vietnam, but it was a start. His name was Doan Le Minh, A_Ngoc, a member of Hoan Long Clan. He finished in PGTour Season 4 with an A- rank and total points of 9351. He was the first.
This Vietnamese record was not broken until PGTour 7th Season when another Vietnamese Nguyen Minh Tuan (pic), also a member of the Hoan Long Clan, placed himself in the top 64 non-Korean ranks. With 132 wins and 109 loses, the rate of win was 53.66% and 10.532 points, he reached the A rank and became the first Vietnamese gamer who could reach this rank. He is the second. There will be more.
Nguyen Minh Tuan, known as hL)Prohand, reached his maximun rank of 160th rank the PGTour's 1v1 seventh season, although he dropped to 200th recently after some encouters with South Korean tigers. He is also made it into the top 20 non-Korean ranking early on and is currently number 36th in this ranking. His PGTour aka is hL)Sunny_Girl. Note also he is in good company with other foreigners such jinro, n.Die_hYuNkeL, FT.act)Love, and 3D.Moonshine in this screen shot.
After the reactivation of PGT, and with their participation in Vietnam's nation team, Tuan and also other Vietnamese gamers have finally been given the advantage to be able to practice in global competitive sphere. As his fame increases with his recent A rank achievement on PGT, Vietnamese gamers are hopeful he will be able to take part in the international sphere more often.
The fact that more Vietnamese gamers are obtaining higher ranks at PGTour is a great signal for the Vietnamese Game System. They train their own and their goal is excellence. If they obtained enough attention and support, Vietnamese gamers are here to stay to compete too in global international events. This is a start, we have kept to ourselves long enough.
