Team Vitality win sixth straight title in IEM Dallas 2025 with sweep over MOUZ

Team Vitality continue to look unstoppable ahead of the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 next month.

French Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) juggernaut Team Vitality continue to reign supreme over the scene in 2025, as they won their sixth straight tournament of the year in Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Dallas 2025 by stomping MOUZ, 3-0, in the grand finals on Monday (26 May).

With their victory, Vitality claimed the lion's share of US$125,000 out of IEM Dallas' US$300,000 prize pool. Less than a month after they won the ESL Grand Slam Season 5 and its US$1 million prize with their victory in IEM Melbourne 2025 in late April, Vitality have also put themselves in position to become the first-ever team in the history of CS to win two Grand Slams in a single calendar year, with three chances left to complete the feat in 2025.

Not only that, the French squad also extended their historic streak of consecutive matches won to 30, halfway to the all-time record of 60 set by Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) all the way back in 2013. With that said, Vitality do hold the all-time record for consecutive matches won when only counting best-of-three and best-of-five series, with their ongoing streak of 30, beating out NiP's 2013 record of 28.

Vitality's landmark signing of Robin “ropz” Kool in January to become their second star alongside Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut continues to prove itself as one of the most impactful roster moves in the history of the game.

Meanwhile, MOUZ settle for second place and US$50,000 in consolation, as they lose their seventh straight match to Vitality dating back to last November, with three of those losses now coming in the grand finals of a tournament this year. This is notably the second time that Vitality swept MOUZ in a grand final this year, with the first coming in ESL Pro League Season 21 in March.

With yet another trophy added to their case this year, Vitality will be looking to win their biggest title yet in the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 next month. The French squad are expected to fly back home for a quick rest before returning to Texas to fight for their second Major championship as an organisation.

Vitality dominate MOUZ once again to win sixth straight title at IEM Dallas

Vitality didn't have the best of starts in Dallas, but they still easily qualified for the Playoffs through IEM Dallas' GSL format Group Stage. The French squad opened their campaign by sweeping Legacy and GamerLegion, before taking down The MongolZ in three maps to advance directly to the semifinals in the Playoffs.

Meanwhile, MOUZ also earned a semifinals berth through Group B by scoring three straight sweeps over BC.Game Esports, Team Liquid, and Team Falcons.

In the Playoffs, Vitality outlasted Falcons in three maps while MOUZ swept the MongolZ. And so, a third grand finals showdown between Vitality and MOUZ was set in front of a rowdy Dallas crowd, with many among the audience notably rooting for MOUZ to finally topple the French juggernaut.

The IEM Dallas 2025 grand finals kicked off in Dust II, where Vitality on the T side won five straight from rounds 5 to 9 behind a fiery start from ropz to go up 6-3. However, MOUZ managed to trim their opponents' lead down to just two rounds as the French squad held a 7-5 lead heading into halftime.

While Vitality won the second half's pistol round, MOUZ responded with six straight round wins to take a commanding 11-8 lead off the back of an incredible 1v5 Ace clutch with a Galil, by Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo in round 14.

Unfortunately for MOUZ, that haymaker from Jimpphat wasn't quite enough to knock out Vitality. The French squad masterfully outmaneuvered their opponents as they racked up five straight rounds to close out the 13-11 win in Dust II, with three rounds out of that streak notably ending with MOUZ getting timed out or forced to save.

Vitality's star duo led the way in the series opener, with ropz topping the charts with 23 frags and three assists on 14 deaths while ZywOo added 21 frags and five assists against a map-best 12 deaths.

Game two at Mirage then saw Vitality on the CT side absolutely stomp MOUZ in the first half 10-2, with ZywOo putting up an Ace of his own in defense of the A Site in round 5. Despite getting utterly dominated in the first half, MOUZ rallied back after the side switch to win the first six rounds of the second half. However, they could only get as close as 11-9, as Vitality once again survived what should have been a knockout blow to claim the 13-9 win in Mirage and a commanding 2-0 grand finals lead.

ZywOo was the star of the show in Mirage, racking up 25 frags and eight assists with another map-best 12 deaths. Shahar “flameZ” Shushan also pitched in with 16 frags and nine assists on 16 deaths.

Inferno would end up as the final map of IEM Dallas 2025, with the first half looking eerily similar to that of Dust II. MOUZ on the CT side won the pistol round and the conversion, while Vitality had another five-round streak from rounds 6 to 10, to enter halftime up 7-5.

Vitality then had all the momentum in the world heading into the second half, as they put up a masterful defense to win the first four rounds of the half and get to within two rounds of the championship. MOUZ put up a valiant last stand and responded with three straight wins to trim their opponents' lead down to 11-8, but Vitality simply could not be denied as they secured Inferno with a 13-8 score to claim their sixth straight championship of 2025.

While Vitality have arguably the best star pairing in the world in ZywOo and ropz, Inferno proved they also had firepower from top to bottom. The team's supporting cast shone to close out the grand finals, with William “mezii” Merriman top-fragging with 17 frags and four assists against 14 deaths. Dan “apEX” Madesclaire also added 14 frags and six assists with a series-best nine deaths to silence the endearing jeers from the Dallas crowd directed against him all Playoffs long.
