ESL granted the 11th invite for ESL One: Cologne 2017 to German organisation mousesports.
Christian "loWel" Garcia Antoran's mousesports have been announced as the 11th confirmed team for the $250,000 event. ESL One: Cologne 2017 is set to take place between July 7th - 9th and will feature sixteen teams, twelve of which will have been issued a direct invite. With mousesports receiving theirs, there is just a single invite left to be given. The remaining four teams will be determined via three regional qualifiers.
Despite losing its major status this year, ESL One: Cologne 2017 is already looking stacked as top-level teams such as SK Gaming, Virtus.pro, FaZe Clan and G2 Esports all announced to attend. The storied event will also serve as the last stop before the next major, making it much more important for the teams and the fans alike who will have one last chance to see the teams' latest form.
On paper, mousesports may seem like one of the weaker teams that will attend ESL One: Cologne 2017, however despite losing their star player, Nikola "NiKo" Kova? to FaZe, their new line-up with Tomáš "oskar" Š?astný and Robin "ropz" Kool performed well and secured the 3rd place in ESL Pro League Season 5 European Division. In addition, their semi-final run at DreamHack Open: Tours 2017 proved they are capable of performing in a LAN environment.
As of today, eleven invited teams for ESL One: Cologne 2017 are:
