The Contestants

The time has come for teams all over the world to fight for prestigious spots in the best and most competitive clanleague in the WarCraft 3 scene. The tenth season of WC3L came to an end, and with no further wait the qualifier for the eleventh blasted off. The WC3L administration surely had lots and lots of team to analyze and check, as everybody wants to be in the league with the best. A total of 28 teams were invited, and will go at it in a double elimination-based tournament. Apart from the 28 teams who were invited, three teams from the previous season are also in the ranks. hoorai, verGe and mTw were the teams that did not cut it, and will have to requalify.

This season hosts lots of interesting teams. Apart from the teams that we usually see in the qualifier but never really can take the next step, we see the Chinese team wNv who recruited the Korean stars FoV and Check who should be given the top favourite position. Serious-Gaming, Praetoriani are two strong European teams that can go very far, especially with their latest recruits. Other teams to look out for are the Scandinavian MeetYourMakers with Ciara in lead. World Elite Europe is doing fairly well in the NGL-One league, with a smoking hot Bulgarian roster.

Australia United participated in several WC3L Qualifiers but has never been able to come far during tue tournament. The last two qualification tournaments Thai lost in round one, against World Elite and Team Excello. Their players are quite unknown to most of the WarCraft community, except glade_au who is probably tue most known Australian planer next to mouz.PhilBoT. It doesn‘t look like as if AU can come far this season, but because they are pretty unknown it‘s very hard to predict how good they might be.

aVant Garde is one of the top teams from America. The last qualifier they had an overall statistic of two victories and two loses, meaning they were eliminated from the tournament in the second round of the lower bracket. They were able to beat DkH and JuSt (now WE.EU) but lost to Kow3 and United5 (now hoorai). The players of AG may have the potential to come quite far in the tournament, but it looks like they are not a candidate for getting a spot in the next WC3L season.

The Italian based team Cubesports is about to play it‘s first WC3L qualification. The players are not that known yet, but maybe they will be after the qualifier? In Italy Cubesports is very successful, but Italy isn‘t the biggest country for eSports so the team is for sure no candidate for the WC3L spots.

ecLs will be known to most of the WC3 community. They participated in two WC3L qualifiers yet, but never made it that far. In season ten they beat Team 3wD but then lost two times and were eliminated. Same in season nine, where they managed to beat idle.swe but then lost twice. The roster of ecLs has changed a lot since the last qualification tournament, lots of new players were added, who now have to show their potential. Nontheless ecLs seems not to be a team that must be named with the favorites this qualifier.

The EuropeanFightClub from France already participated the last qualifier, where they beat idle.swe in round one, but then lost in the second one. In the lower bracket they were victorious against ecLs but then clearly lost to LanFan (now NoA) with a 0:3. EFC got some more or less known players such as hardGamer or eLqua in it‘s roster, who could be able to have very good results at a good day, but they will just be underdogs this qualification tournament.

Team egamespoint is a German based team that has done pretty good in German leagues. Players such as DwC and especially Rholle are quite known and very good players for sure, so egamespoint might have some smaller chances this qualifier, although they will start as underdogs and will have to be in very good shape for showing good results against the favorites.

The roster of fourvisions doesn’t show any well known player. It‘s fourvision‘s first WC3L qualification tournament and it looks like they will gain a lot of experience but won‘t be able to come very far.

G2H-Gaming already plays it‘s third qualification tournament for the WC3L. In the past two events they lost in the first round, against DkH and MYM.sca. Although some very talented players like Sir_J are in G2H‘s roster they seem not to be favorites for qualifying. In Bulgaria G2H is quite good but for international competition it might not be enough to beat teams like wNv or other candidates for a WC3L spot.

hoorai is one of the teams who took part in the latest WC3L season but was forced to play in the playdown matches against Clan Go and SK-Germnay. Losing to both of the teams hoorai did not qualify, but they were given a shot in the qualifier. They have a strong lineup and are one of the favourites into making it once again. They recently added an Undead player, Naniwa form Sweden. It will be interesting to see what he can bring to the team. This team can go far, and will most likely be in the top fighting for one of the four spots.

ID'Gaming holds a great European lineup. With five top Swedish players they look pretty strong. Sunshine and LiiLD.C are strong in their 2on2 play, and having the Austrian Firestrike in the lineup is pretty good as well. This team is one to look out for, after all, they won the German Bundesliga last season.

This team is an underdog, but hit the front news when they recruited the Undead player WinneR from Lithuania. He makes their lineup a bit more grand, but it takes more than one name to qualify for WC3L. The team is housing Lithuania's WCG 2006 player Sujin, along with other players from east Europe. The Extreme Masters players w4X and Fav are also some of the new players that was added to the team just before the deadline for the WC3L application period.

Kings of WarCraft 3 can be seen in various leagues in the scene, but we mostly remember them from the last qualifier. They made it quite far, losing in the third round in the winner bracket against Mousesports. Then they fought and beat AoD.Salzburgerland. Though in the end they got stopped by Clan Go (now Team NoA) who ended up qualifying for the season. KemPeR is member of the Russian national team, and should be considered one of their biggest stars. The Swedish 2on2 duo Target and Zipper is a strong team, but none of the members in Kow3 are really WC3L material. Top 8 in the last qualifier, will they go for more?

MeetYourMakers' Scandinavian team best player and also their team captain Ciara is one of the reasons for their success in the NGL-TWO league where wins against SK-Germany can be boasted with. Though in the WC3L all players goes up against eachother and they need more than one top notch player to make it to the regular season. Rosenkill, MyWa and ThomasG are all three good players, as well as their newest player Konna from Finland. Konna took part in the KODE5 Nordic qualifier and even if he did not play remarkably well there, he proved himself later with good results in a couple of inCup tournaments. The team has a lot of potential, but doesn't have the star quality that is needed.

Mortar Team Work, anyone? One of the three teams who failed to stay put in the regular season, ending on eleventh place in it. Ever since they got rid of their international squad the team has not shown that particularily good results. They managed to win against verGe-Gaming and SK-Germany in the season but that was not enough. They should be considered one of the stronger teams here, especially with the experience the team has. Looking back, they have two WC3L championship titles. The third and fourth was a wonderful season for mTw, but chances for them taking another one with the lineup they have now is slim. Will Tak3r and his crew manage to play in the WC3L yet another season?

Myth is a Taiwanese-based team with pretty much an unknown lineup to the international scene. The player most people come to think of when they hear Myth is Carefly who joined up with the Chinese squad of Team Excello just before the qualifier. The team will have trouble against the teams in the qualifier but will gain lots of international experience. Taiwan lacks a star player in the WarCraft scene, but no doubt that Myth is one of the strongest teams from the nation.

The team hosts the former French top player Sayen who recently left AoD in September to join up with netGen. He is also a member of the French national team, and is one of the best players in the roster. In the French WC3L, they managed to qualify for the playoffs but did not made it that far. They defeated webOne in the Loser Bracket but then lost their remaining matches. Clearly an underdog in the WC3L qualifer, and it would be very surprising if they ended up as one of the teams qualifying.

One of the top teams in the German clan scene. They took part in the playoffs of the Bundesliga, but lost to both ID`Gaming and starComa.Tagan. The team is in NGL-TWO, and had a good start against Avant Garde but then lost two matches in a row. n!faculty has qualified several times before but never made the cut. With CraftY and iNSoLeNCE in the lineup they have potential, but they are not counted as one of the teams who are able to make it all the way. Though one of their players Dolorian looked very strong in the beginning of NGL-TWO, defeating Avant Garde all on his own.

oXmoze.WeiRd won the French WC3L just recently, taking down EuropeanFightClub with a bit of surprise. Apart from bigS coming from Switzerland the team is fully French. blaST and Edko are good players but they are not enough on this level.

Here is one of the teams that have the best shot in making it. Before their latest additions they held a solid European roster with Paladyn, TeRRoR and Tharkas. Though when adding the Koreans Mamoru and SuppLant they now consist of a very strong lineup with good chances of reaching far. SuppLant has been playing very good in inCup, while Mamoru has WC3L experience from various teams. Watch out for Praetoriani. In the last season's qualifier they lost to hoorai quite far ahead, but with the lineup they have now they look to go even further.

redCode remade their roster only a month ago and only the two players kayZer and LoL_vs_xD remained. For this qualifier they seem to have brought forth the strongest Spanish lineup you've seen in quite a while. Only two days ago they recruited the previous Praetoriani player ToRReN, adding a nice touch to the lineup. The team failed to qualify for the tenth season, losing to mTw in the first round. They would need all their players on top to reach further this time.

Now here's a team to look out for. Serious Gaming's lineup is filled with great players who are yet to prove themselves on the international scene. Their top 2on2 duo Zubie and Zerter plays well, while the Human player DeMusliM has shown impressive results in the NGL-One league. The team took down mTw in the first playday of the league, but then lost to SK-Gaming in the second round. The Eastern Europe players FiX, Neytpoh and NightWOlf are all three very strong players and if they play their best we might just see srs as one of the teams who qualify for WC3L. They failed to qualify last season as they lost to ID`Gaming, but this year their chances are much better.

simplicity gaming holds the best players from Norway, not counting the 4Kings player Creolophus. HenL and GamlaSonn, the ones fighting in the WCG Norway qualifier are both from spc, and together with Agile, and Teo they are one of the stronger teams in the Nordic countries. They are playing in the WarCraft Premier League, and scored an impressive 2-3 against verGe-Gaming. They are in the third spot in division B, and they seem to be doing prety okay. This is their first try qualifying for WC3L, and should be in for a treat. Their slogan is "we make it look easy", but the qualifier will be very tough for the Norwegian team.

starComa showed in the latest NGL-TWO match against ID`Gaming that they had players who could take down known players. Cold.D took down SjoW, and Kalle managed to defeat LiiLD.C. Other than that they have had a bad season so far in NGL, losing all their matches. The former SK-Germany player impact is in the team, as well as some of the old DkH players. They are one of the stronger German teams, ending in third place in the Bundesliga. They have the possibility of beating some of the teams in the qualifier, but against the top teams they will have to be on their toes and play their absolute best.

Take 2 impressed many in the WarCraft Premier League, taking down MYM.Scandinavia. Other than that their season has been pretty meek, losing to simplicity gaming. This is their first try in WC3L qualifiers and the American team is not one of the top favourites. They were given wNv in the first round, a very tough nut to crack.

Team Delta is an unknown team to the international scene, though they have a bit of experience. They took part in the WC3L qualifier back in 2004, and have also played in the ClanBase Open Cup tournaments, winning the 2005 edition. They also won the fifth season of the Polish clanleague LCW. Now they say that they are back in action, and will try their luck in the WC3L qualifier. The team will gain some international experience from the qualifier but they will not make it very far.

Team Excello is replacing S4 Gaming who failed to comply with WC3L qualification rules in time. Excello is not a new team, but their lineup they have now is a new one. With old members as APM and VeNoM they did not make it that far and had much success in previous leagues. However with their newest additions from the Asian continent they look to be a hefty team to look out for. Carefly from Myth, Nicholas from Phoenix and Rabbit from u.s.T. All three took part in WCG 2006, where the Chinese player Rabbit made the furthest. They are still barred for six days, and to qualify they will need them pretty fast.

TeK-9 Networks Ltd. is a mix of old American players housing in Trademark Gamers, and the Russian talented players from es4x. TechnoBoy, Darius, DoLLaR and BadTroopa are some of the names from the big roster. This is their first time trying out for the WC3L, and their chances are pretty slim against the teams in the league. An interesting team coming up, but them qualifying for WC3L will be a big upset.

Templars of Twilight, this name would be synonymous with a superb Starcraft team but in the Warcraft world they are largely unknown. With a lineup of some American names in Boo who managed a stint in Korea for WEG masters, the rest of their players are largely unaccomplished in terms of international fame. However one cannot expect them to be a walkover with their veteran Orc player Casin and their human player HolyHuman who has done quite well on the American B.Net servers. This team doesn’t necessarily lack talent, but exposure they do. Will the team of Dark and FatRandy as Organisers have some surprises up their sleeve with this team? Only time will tell. It’ll be interesting to see how they fare against their first round opponents EFC.

This American clan has been in the news of late for more reasons than one. A relatively new comer to the scene last season they quickly established themselves as one of the premier American Gaming clans with talented players in Canuck, Phreak and their latest pickup Longwalk, who had a great run in the Digitall tournament. While a rank 12 last season might not be a stellar performance, considering their talent was raw, they still did manage to take down some top established names in their individual matches. This time around they are far more determined and tightly packed. We’ll let Phreak tell you the rest, “I fully intend to reclaim my title as Man On The Spot. So this means of course we will be requalifying. We will play much better than last season as we build confidence from each match. Expect some great things from us as we defeat bigger and better opponents. If we play like we know how no one can really stop us, it's just a matter of actually doing it--a problem that plagued us last season. If everything goes right you shouldn't surprised to see us in the top 6 in season XI. I know it seems crazy, but we're good enough--it's just a matter of intensity. I'm ready for the Season XI MVP. ARE YOU?!~!!!!~?!!”

Many eyes are on this team now that they have been established as the European wing of the Elite Chinese team WE.IGE. While their Asian counterparts managed to capture the top 4 slots, WE.EU has the pressure on to perform, narrowly missing their qualification spots last time around. The veteran Night elf player Didi8 is definitely one of their star players and will seek to rake in the important wins along with his new team mate Rob who recently proved to be a good talent pick from Russia. This is a team many will watch the results of and their manager Tedet was kind enough to give us a few words: “I think we start this tournament with a lot of hope. We understand that there is a need to perform and the time is here now. DIDI8 is very experienced and influences a lot to the players so he will be a great help in helping achieve the coveted WC3L spot. We did well in the NGL-One qualifier and I expect us to repeat that again. Being a World Elite Organisation it gives us pride to perform well when the pressures on. This time the qualifiers are really tight in skill level and there will be some crazy competition. I'm happy with our bracket and I expect us to win our first match vs. team Delta. We dont understimate them but I know our players will do their best to grab the win!”

When you put in stellar names such as the Former 4 Kings player, Fov, the former WE.IGE player, Check and the famous Chinese orc player in Xiaot, you have one hell of a team in terms of talent. Clear favorites of this round you can even be sure they’ll give the previous seasons top names some competition. Many expected a top Human player to join them but on a rather largely surprising move they suddenly recruited two relatively unknown Chinese players in Cuiyi and Kevin. This is their first season as team wNv and many have rested their bets on their performance. While the three top players are sure to perform and get in the results, one can only wait and see how the two newer members step up on the same stage as their illustrious trio. But as they say, where there's Wisdom and the Nerve, you can be sure of Victory.
