WCG Nordic 2006

After many ups and down the Nordic World Cyber Games 2006 is actually going to happen!

The Grand Finals in Italy, Monza are closing in on us. October 18th, as the event starts, might have seemed a long wait just after the successful event in Singapore last year, but it is now less than two months away. Several WCG players have already qualified and there are more to come. In WarCraft III, there will be one (1) player per nation from the Nordic countries of Denmark Denmark, Finland Finland, Norway Norway and Sweden Sweden.

Last year the WarCraft 3 players from the Nordic countries taking part in World Cyber Games in Singapore were Denmark Bjarke, Finland Leijonamieli, Norway Creolophus and Sweden FuRy. Reaching farthest was Creolophus, who actually defeated Bjarke in the second playoff round. In the quarter final however, Creolophus lost to the Chinese player Sky who ended up winning the whole event.

Administrational change in the WCG Nordic Staff

This year we see an update in the Staff behind WCG Nordic. Previous organizers of WCG Nordic have not been given the chance to continue manage it. This year and this late, GosuGamers can reveal that IQ Promotion be hosting the preliminaries, and will have the help of various communities (such as GosuGamers and FragBite) and internet cafés around the Nordic to make the preliminaries what it's supposed to be - the gamers' tournaments.

The Finnish by the internet café level7, while the Swedish and Norwegian qualifiers will be hosted by GosuGamers with a platform at Playz, an internet café in Stockholm. No information yet about the Danish qualifier. As soon as we know more, we will update this feature.
