NRG parted ways with Marved and moved Demon1 to their reserve squad prior to Stage 2 of VCT Americas 2024.
NRG parted ways with Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen before the start of Stage 2 of VCT Americas 2024 and moved Max "Demon1" Mazanov to their reserve squad after a disappointing Stage 1 and Kickoff. This decision left the team with only three personnel: Austin "crashies" Roberts, Victor "Victor" Wong, and Ethan "Ethan" Arnold.
NRG announced their decision on social media, with some teasing about their next decision before both announcements. It was rumoured that the team would have Sam "s0m" Oh and Pujan "FNS" Mehta return to the team with Marved and Demon1, which would make way for both of them. This rumour seemed accurate, as Marved was released, and Demon1 was sidelined.
NRG started their run in the VCT Americas with a strong 2-0 score in the group stage of VCT Americas 2024: Kickoff, defeating Furia and Cloud9 in a GSL format. However, they can't advance to the coveted Masters Madrid as Sentinels defeated NRG 2-1 in a single-elimination playoff series. This loss marked the team's first failure to show themselves on the international stage.
NRG's second chance came with Stage 1 of VCT Americas 2024 rolling. However, again, they failed to show themselves as they bowed out to the competition early. They could not advance to the playoff after a horrible 3-3 scoreline in the group stage of Stage 1. This marked the team's second failure to show their potential to the Masters.
NRG will look to find replacements for both Demon1 and Marved. If the rumours are true, Stage 2 for the Americas team would be very interesting, especially if they successfully achieved the Champions qualification. Stay tuned to GosuGamers for more VALORANT coverage.
