Drift is the new addition to the Team Deathmatch maps. Riot Games officially released Drift during the VCT Game Changers Championship 2023 Grand Finals. The new map took inspiration from the aesthetic of Thailand and its floating markets.
The new Team Deathmatch map featured a long-range battle in the middle lane. The paths on the side lanes encourage flanks from both teams. Players can also swap lanes quickly with the new overhead rope. This is a new mechanic added to a Team Deathmatch map.
Players can expect most duels to happen in the mid lane but make sure that a team member is watching your side lanes.
Team Deathmatch was introduced to VALORANT last June 2023. It is a new 5v5 game mode that has timed stages, no economy, gun progress, and unique maps. The initial Team Deathmatch maps are Kasbah, District, and Piazza.
The rules of Team Deathmatch are simple. The first team to get the 100 kills wins. Each match runs for 9 minutes and 30 seconds and it is split into four different stages. There are different weapons and loadouts to choose from per stage.
Once you get out of the spawn area, you are not allowed to change your loadout. The loadouts can only be changed after spawning. Orbs are also around the map to generate the ultimate faster. Recovery orb grants a shield for six seconds and restores the player’s health.
Team Deathmatch was designed as a warm-up mode before players queue ranked games. The usage of utilities can also be practiced since the mode allows skills. Although the classic Deathmatch was deemed to be a better option for aim training, Team Deathmatch provides another fun way to warm up before playing competitive match.
