DRX advance to upper bracket semi-finals despite COVID strike

DRX moved on to the upper bracket finals after a dominating match against Bilibili Gaming.

DRX sent Bilibili Gaming to the lower bracket of VALORANT Champions 2023. DRX dominated Bilibili Gaming in a clean 2-0 sweep despite the COVID scare. One of DRX’s players requested a COVID test and unfortunately, the result was positive.

Kim “MaKo” Myeong-kwan was missing during the entrance of DRX on stage which means he was the player who tested positive. MaKo felt well enough to play and he competed in an isolated room while the rest of the players play on stage.

Bilibili Gaming started with a strong showing in the first half of Game 1. The team picked Lotus for the first map and proved it to be their stronghold. An early Ace from Li "rin" Lewei set up Bilibili for a dominating performance.

It took DRX eight rounds to finally break the streak. Bilibili quickly answered back with three consecutive round wins and pushed DRX on the edge. The first half heavily favored BIlibili with a 10-2 score.

The game seemed impossible to win with such a huge deficit but DRX proved the audience otherwise. DRX slowly clawed out of the massive deficit as they bought out utilities from their enemies and eliminated their firepower.

DRX engineered an impressive comeback as each player popped off and styled on Bilibili. DRX did not let Bilibili score a single round win during the second half. The team stole the win and move to the next map with huge smiles.

DRX built on that momentum to assert dominance in the second game. They immediately chalked up six round wins and punished Bilibili for their slight misplays.

Bilibili finally stopped the bleeding and scored five rounds during the first half. The team managed to tie the score after they won the pistol round.

DRX was not having it as they pushed Bilibili back to the edge. Bilibili’s attacks were a little bit off balance and DRX took the opportunity to punish them. DRX closed out the game with a 13-9 score.

Bilibili was left with no choice but to fight for their tournament life in the lower bracket.
