Evil Geniuses secured its VALORANT Champions 2023 playoffs spot after a clean sweep against FUT Esports. The team can now sit back and relax as they sealed their seat on the main stage.
On the other hand, FUT Esports is still looking good to take the second playoff spot in Group B. However, it will still depend on the results of the elimination match and decider match. FUT Esports awaits the winner between Fun Plus Phoenix and T1 for the last playoffs seed.
Evil Geniuses started the series against FUT Esports with sheer dominance. They took four back-to-back round wins until the Turkish team answered in round 5. Evil Geniuses did not let their opponents gain momentum and ended the first half with a 9-3 score.
FUT Esports finally found value in their team composition during the second half. The team started scoring significant rounds and punished Evil Geniuses for their slight misplays.
Evil Geniuses struggled to infiltrate the site as FUT Esports slowly clawed their way through the deficit. An impressive 4k from Buğra "mojj" Kiraz inched them closer to a complete comeback.
FUT Esports pushed the game to overtime twice until Evil Geniuses finally managed to close out the game.
The second game started with Evil Geniuses on good footing. The team scored six wins and gained early momentum. FUT Esports were ready for the onslaught as they clawed their way back into the scoreboard.
The first half ended in a 6-6 fashion. FUT Esports kicked off the second half with a pistol win. Meanwhile, Evil Geniuses took the risk and bought up in the second round. The retaliation paid off as Evil Geniuses tied the score to 7-7.
They took control and FUT Esports was not able to engineer a runback. The game ended with a 13-9 in favor of Evil Geniuses. The American team successfully punched their playoffs ticket after a clean 2-0 sweep.
