Evelyn Chevalier is here! And while there are many reasons why you should or should not pull the newest S-rank agent, it ultimately boils down to what you want for your account. Do you need a new addition to your Fire team’s arsenal, want a solid companion for Astra, or just think her combat mechanics and animations are pretty cool? Either way, go for it.
So now that you’ve pulled her, how do you maximise her combat prowess? This guide provides a comprehensive overview of Evelyn, including her notable mechanics and playstyle, recommended skills to level up, best W-Engine weapons, best Drive Disc sets, best Drive Disc main and sub-stats, best end game stats, best Bangboos, and recommended premium and F2P teams.
Evelyn’s kit simplified
Evelyn’s kit revolves around Binding Seal, which boosts her Crit Rate by 25% while active. You can trigger it through:
- 5th Basic Attack (Final hit in her attack chain)
- Dodge Counter
- Special Attack/EX Special Attack
- Quick Assist
- Assist Follow-up
Binding Seal remains active for 10 seconds after application, but some abilities end it early. Keeping it active is key to maximise damage.
To keep Binding Seal active, you need to trigger it regularly through Evelyn’s attacks and counters. Make sure to land Evelyn’s 5th basic attack as much as possible to keep the chain from being broken. Since Dodge Counter also activates it, dodging at the right time not only avoids damage but helps maintain the 25% Crit rate buff. Staying aggressive and mixing these up into combos will keep Binding Seal active through most of the fight.
Burning Embers and Enhanced Basic Attacks
Evelyn also builds Burning Embers over time, unlocking two levels of Enhanced Basic Attacks:
- Enhanced Basic Attack I: Activated at half Burning Embers.
- Enhanced Basic Attack II: Activated at full Burning Embers, dealing higher damage.
Each Enhanced Basic Attack generates Burning Tether Points. After collecting three Burning Tether Points, Evelyn can unleash a Chain Attack, which is a high-damage finisher. Since Enhanced Basic Attacks are a major damage source, focusing on generating Burning Embers efficiently and timing Chain Attacks are crucial.
Ultimate – Lunalux Garrote Timbre
When Evelyn uses her Ultimate, she takes off her jacket, unleashing massive fire damage, entering a Dance of Awakened Fire state and enhancing her abilities:
- Retains 1 Burning Tether Point – Enables more frequent Chain Attacks, boosting her DPS.
- Boosts Fire damage – Increases the Fire damage of all her attacks while in this mode.
- Extends Combo potential – Improves combat flow, making it easier to chain multiple attacks together.
Skill priority
Upgrade Evelyn's Core Skill first to boost her Crit Rate, then focus on her Chain Attack since it deals the most damage. After that, enhance her Basic Attacks to increase Garrote damage, followed by Special Attacks, which she uses often. Dodge and Assist contribute the least damage, with Dodge mainly used for counterattacks and Assist having a minor impact, so upgrade these only when everything else is maxed out.
Best DPS build for Evelyn
When you’re working on Evelyn’s build, make sure that you’re prioritsing stats that would benefit her. One of the target stats you should be building toward is getting 80% Crit Rate to activate Evelyn’s additional ability.
W-engine:
Best W-Engine: Heartstring Nocturne
CRIT DMG increases by 50%. When the equipper enters the battlefield, or activates a Chain Attack or Ultimate, they gain 1 stack of Heartstring. Each stack of Heartstring allows the equipper's Chain Attack and Ultimate to ignore 12.5% of the target's Fire RES, stacking up to 2 times and lasting 30s. Repeated triggers reset the duration.
Alternative W-Engines:
- Marcato Desire
- Canon Rotor
- Steel Cushion
- Street Superstar
The other W-Engines mostly focus on ATK Crit, or buffing Evelyn’s Ultimate.
Best Drive Disc
Woodpecker Electro (4pc) and inferno Metal (2 pc)
This combination boosts her Crit Rate while also increasing Fire damage to maximise her overall DPS. The Woodpecker Electro set enhances her Attack whenever she performs a Basic Attack, Dodge Counter, or EX Special Attack. You can substitute Inferno Metal for Hormone Punk if you just want to increase Evelyn’s Attack damage.
Puffer Electro (2-pc), Woodpecker Electro (2-piece), Hormone Punk (2-piece)
This combo is a solid burst damage option because it not only boosts her ult damage but also grants additional PEN ratio, which complements her signature W-engine’s Fire RES. Her damage output is further amplified for 12 seconds after using her ult, making it especially effective in Stun-focused teams or when paired with Stun agents like Lighter. Take advantage of enemies under Daze effects and unleash her ult before finishing your combo. The Woodpecker 2-pc set also provides an extra Crit Rate boost.
Best Teams
Stun-burst Team
- Astra – Support
- Evelyn – Burst
- Lighter – Stun + Burst
- Bangboo: Rocketboo, Red Moccus
For stun focused teams, Lighter will be the most ideal stun agent to pair with Evelyn since his stun is the most effective, and he can also buff Evelyn’s Fire damage. However, both Koleda and Qingyi are solid replacements in case you don’t have Lighter, with Koleda being able to increase Chain Attack Damage dealt, and Qingyi increasing Stun DMG multipliers.
Replace Astra with Lucy in case you don’t have Astra Yao, since Lucy provides the party some Attack buffs.
Burnice Team
- Astra – Support
- Evelyn – Burst
- Burnice- Anomaly/Burst
- Bangboo: Rocketboo, Red Moccus
If you don’t have these stun agents, Burnice is a great option even if she’s a Fire Anomaly agent. Burnice can inflict Burning effects on enemies—which works with Evelyn if she has the 4pc Inferno Metal Disc Drive. Again, Astra can be replaced with Lucy.
Survivability Team
- Astra - Support
- Evelyn – Burst
- Caesar – Defense
- Bangboo: Rocketboo, Red Moccus
If you’re in a situation where a bit more survivability is needed, Caesar is your best bet to keep you going through harder content like Endless Tower. With the combination of heals and buffs from Astra and shields and stun from Caesar, it’d be likely that your team would survive the hardest floors, as long as Evelyn’s stats are also solid.
Double Support Team
- Astra – Support
- Lucy – Support
- Evelyn – Burst
- Bangboo: Rocketboo, Red Moccus
A double support for a well-built, extra powerful Evelyn is also possible, if you want to combine both Astra and Lucy for maximum buffs. However, you need to make sure that both Astra and Lucy are in solid positions since Evelyn will be carrying the team’s damage.
