Indonesia brought out all the stops to end the Philippines' dominance in VALORANT at the 32nd SEA Games.
In the first series of the final stage for VALORANT at the 32nd SEA Games, Team Indonesia ended the best-of-three series with a decisive 2-0 victory against one of the tournament favourites, the Philippines. Having dominated the group stage, many expected the Philippines to make it to the grand finals but Indonesia had other plans, putting an end to the Filipino dominance early.
That win now puts Indonesia in the top-two, securing themselves a silver medal at the very least. As for the Philippines, they will be fighting for a bronze medal later today. However, they will first have to wait for the loser between Team Vietnam and Singapore.
The first match of the series between Indonesia and the Philippines saw both teams duke it out on Lotus with both teams having some success on that map during the group stages. And after suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of the Filipinos on the first day, you know that Team Indonesia was going to bring out all the stops.
And they did just that, winning the first 11 rounds of game one with nine coming from full team wipes and another two with successful spike plants. Team Indonesia also won both pistol rounds whilst also securing both eco rounds and even winning eight out of the nine full-buy rounds.
Game two saw both teams head to Ascent, which had only been chosen twice prior to the final stage. And given how Indonesia dominated in the first game, it was no surprise to see them come out swinging in the second as well. The first round already saw Indonesia get the defuse, which set the tone for the rest of the match.
Team Indonesia would go on to win 10 rounds in a row, which also includes winning two of three eco rounds and even nine out of their 10 full-buy rounds. This was enough to secure Team Indonesia a spot in the grand finals with a largely impressive victory over their bitter rivals.
