Cloud9 completes its Valorant roster for VCT Americas league

It is a brand new beginning for Cloud9 Valorant with the signing of two fresh prospects.

Cloud9 confirmed their Valorant squad with a flashy announcement of the double-signing of Dylan ‘runi’ Cade and Jake ‘jakee’ Anderson, ahead of their debut match in the VCT Americas League against Evil Geniuses this Sunday.

The duo was included on the VCT contract database surfacing on the internet prior to the official announcement, and they will see their contracts tied with C9 until the end of 2025.

Following the departure of Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker and Anthony "vanity" Malaspina, runi and jakee will have big shoes to fill. Especially considering they are relatively fresh and unproven as compared to the existing roster consisting of Erick "Xeppaa" Bach, Nathan "leaf" Orf, and Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro.

Played under the Soniqs banner, runi was the in-game leader and he will likely assume the same role in C9. He has shown maturity in his commands, however, Soniqs often faltered in Tier 2 tournaments and was never able to break it to the top flights of the Valorant esports ecosystem.

Similarly, jakee was active in the Tier 2 scene, playing for Team Reckaroo but failed to qualify for NSIC split 1. He then switched his focus and joined University of St. Thomas Esports (UST Esports). His inclusion was able to help the team qualify for the College Valorant Championship LAN in May.

Can the new kids on the cloud(9) produce favorable results for the NA squad? Do they have enough time to get a win against Evil Geniuses this Sunday? Stay tuned to GosuGamers for more Valorant news and updates?
