Replay Pack: Eriador[pG]

[s]replays[/s]

In Europe there is a country that features one of the best non-Korean StarCraft Brood War players to date. The country features other players but this one is a little special. In Norway, Norway Eriador[pG] roams and dominates the land.

Very recently the Russian replay website Reps.ru released a very nice and moderately organized replay package. The replay package features none other than the Norwegian random playing gamer, Norway Eriador[pG].

Eriador[pG] has accomplished so much over his years as a Brood War gamer. He attended the WCG 2005 event and advanced out the group stage, where he lost to rS.Testie, now Canada Testie[pG]. Eridador[pG] has also participated in online and offline events in which he has excelled in.

The replay package itself has many games in it. 65 to be exact. It weighs about 4.65 MB, and every inch or in this case byte of it is worth it. The games are separated into what race Eriador[pG] is playing.

Interview of Norway Eriador[pG]

Well to start off. How long have you been playing StarCraft Brood War?
- Since it was released in April 1998

Has your love for the game changed since than?
- It's a different love for the game. Back then everything was new and I wanted to discover everything. The pace was sooooooo slow back then compared to now. For example I remember winning almost every Z vs. T Lost Temple game I played with 1 hatch, muta, into guardian and 4 sunkens. But, the love for the game is still there, just in a different way kind of. Now it's more like a sport, back then it was just a game. Although I still don't play any more seriously than if it were just a game, the way execution matters more than strategy nowadays just illustrates my point

What do you think about StarCraft now? Is it getting bigger and more popular? Or is it slowly declining to nothing?
- If you had asked me 6 months ago I would probably have answered that it is slowly declining. But due to recent sponsorships, a CPL poll that might hopefully make them include Brood War, and some other events that I won't mention in public. I believe it is the other way around. I have no idea how long Brood War will last, but I would not be particularly surprised if the community is of roughly the same size in 2 1/2 years when StarCraft celebrates its 10 year anniversary.

What about past achievements? Which do you treasure most?
- Winning WCG Norway was definitely the coolest thing. Nothing compares honestly. Although I've won like up to $2500. I really don't remember exactly how much anymore, no other tournament was of that kind of magnitude and got that kind of coverage

What about your worst StarCraft memory?
- I dunno, I don't have bad memories

This year WCG Nordic may or may not come. But if it does the 4 countries will participate for one spot. How do you think you will do in the event if it happens?
- That's going to be a tossup. Personally my performance depends entirely on how the random works out. Especially if I play against say, Trek, then whoever is luckier wins. But there are at least 10 players there who are capable of beating me if I random into one of my worse match ups. Although if I end up being lucky through the entire tourney then I could definitely see myself winning.

Okay one more question for you than I’ll let you get on with your business. What do you think about the BlizzCon event? Do you think you would get invited?
- Hmm, nope as I haven’t really bothered reading much about that. So I have no idea. If I were invited I'd be overjoyed though!!!!!!

I would have enough enjoyment for the both us. Thanks a lot. Sorry if I bothered you.
- That’s okay I guess I'll be late for work. But that's not a problem. I'd be late for work anyway.

Good luck and have fun with this interesting yet exciting replay package.
