The Arcane hype train is here again and fans can expect a lot of exciting content across Riot's titles.
There’s less than a month until the much-anticipated release of Arcane Season 2, the League of Legends animated Netflix series, and the hype is building up.
In the dev diaries released on Thursday (October 17), Marc Merrill, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at Riot, and Christian Linke, Co-Creator and Showrunner of Arcane, gave fans a glimpse into what they can expect from the upcoming season and its integration across several Riot titles.
Ambessa Medarda Joins the Rift and Beyond
Ambessa, one of the pivotal characters (and likely a major villain) in Season 2, is making her way to the Summoner’s Rift. Riot has given fans a preview of her in-game look.
Though her kit details remain under wraps, Ambessa will also appear as a playable character in Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra’s Path of Champions, and as a playable unit in Teamfight Tactics. So far, her models in LoL and Wild Rift, and her artwork in Legends of Runeterra, have been revealed, while further details for TFT remain undisclosed.
League of Legends and Wild Rift
Ambessa isn’t the only new content on the way in League. The game will receive an Arcane-themed ARAM update, with battles moving to the iconic Bridge of Progress from the show.
Additionally, players will be able to unlock Arcane skins, including a new skin tier called Exalted, starting with a Jinx-themed skin. Fans of Vi can also look forward to Arcane Brawler Vi, along with other skins inspired by Season 2.
Wild Rift will get its own Arcane-themed showdown mode, complete with unique items. Both Warwick and Singed will receive key in-game updates to reflect their Arcane appearances. Furthermore, Heimerdinger will join Wild Rift as another Arcane-linked champion.
Teamfight Tactics to get Powder and an Arcane-Inspired set
Fans of Teamfight Tactics can expect the next set to dive deeper into Arcane’s world. This set will feature exclusive champions, mechanics, and traits, allowing players to immerse themselves in Season 2’s universe. Powder (the young version of Jinx) will also join the fray, adding a unique tactical experience to the game.
In addition, Chibi Caitlyn will be introduced as a new tactician, with TFT offering even more Arcane-inspired flair. The return of Tocker’s Trials in the new set’s first patch will provide a way for new and returning players to learn the game in a low-pressure environment or aim for higher scores.
2XKO: Jinx Reappears with a visual update
2XKO, Riot’s upcoming fighting game, will feature Arcane-themed content. Players have been curious about whether Jinx would return as a champion in 2XKO, and Riot has confirmed her visual update.
Jinx’s new look brings improved movements and better expressions, making her appearance much more fluid compared to the initial Project L prototype.
Updates on Jinx’s reintroduction into 2XKO are expected on 11 November. Although the game is scheduled for release in 2025, fans can already sign up for playtests at 2XKO.com.
VALORANT Joins the Arcane celebration
VALORANT fans will also be part of the celebration, as Riot is launching a new Arcane-themed bundle. Following the success of the Sheriff skin from Season 1, Riot’s premium content team has created something special for Season 2.
Real-World Merch: Uniqlo, Fenty, Funko, Black Milk and more
As excitement builds for Season 2, Riot has announced an array of Arcane merchandise collaborations, including partnerships with brands like Uniqlo, Black Milk, and Funko, as well as a Fenty Beauty makeup line. Most of these collaborations will roll out closer to the premiere date.
Act I of Arcane Season 2 premieres on November 9, 2024.
