Rockstar Games will reportedly announce GTA 6 ‘as early as this week’ with a full trailer coming in December.

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Rockstar Games is set to officially announce Grand Theft Auto 6 to the world, “as early as this week,” as part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebrations. This will be followed by a full trailer in December this year, showing off Rockstar’s highly-anticipated sequel to GTA 5 at long last.

GTA 6 reveal reportedly set for this week

This report comes from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who has proven to have reliable insider knowledge on the games industry thanks to past scoops - so this is as reliable a leak as one can hope for when it comes to GTA 6. 10 years have passed since GTA 5 lit the games industry on fire in 2013, breaking every sales record there is and instantly finding a permanent spot in pop culture thanks to its memorable characters, freedom of exploration and chaotic gameplay.

Its sequel GTA 6 will be revealed over the coming days as Rockstar prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary, followed by a proper game trailer in December. That means we’ll likely get something smaller this week, like a piece of cover art or a logo reveal, to tide fans over until the trailer arrives. Whatever the case, this will still be the most substantial confirmation that the game exists since Rockstar’s recent GTA 6 leaks.

In September last year, Rockstar suffered a massive data breach that resulted in multiple gameplay videos from an early build of GTA 6 surfacing online. These videos confirmed a few prior leaks: the game takes players back to Vice City, GTA’s version of Miami, with dual protagonists: a man and a woman styled after Bonnie and Clyde. The leaks were confirmed to be legitimate by Rockstar, though the company reaffirmed that it would only introduce players, “to this next game when it is ready.”

Beyond these leaks, there isn’t much that we know about GTA 6 and its potential improvements to the already-refined mechanics of GTA 5. Judging by the immense success of GTA Online, one can only imagine how hard Rockstar is working to deliver a follow-up multiplayer experience that lives up to its predecessor. We’ll know more when the game gets announced over the next few days, and when the trailer arrives in December.

We’ve waited 10 years. What’s a few more days?
