Valorant content creator Kyedae will go on a streaming hiatus following her leukemia diagnosis.
Prolific VALORANT content creator Kyedae announced that she has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on Twitter this week. The streamer said that she expects to undergo treatment soon, and that it will impact her streaming schedule.
Kyedae isn't just a prolific member of the online VALORANT community across Twitch and social media, but also participates in the esports scene via 100 Thieves, as she creates content for the esports group. The 21-year-old has continued streaming the game to a steadily growing viewership since joining the organisation, to the point of becoming one of Twitch's most-watched streamers with an average of 10,000 viewers per stream. If you pay attention to VALORANT streamers, there's a good chance you've seen at least a clip from one of Kyedae's broadcasts by now.
Kyedae is currently engaged to professional VALORANT player TenZ, who plays for a competing organisation: Sentinels. The duo have streamed together and appeared at VALORANT events around the world, such as the recent VCT Lock//In in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where they were interviewed during a livestream. Kyedae's streaming career began through streaming with TenZ before starting her own channel.
In 2021, Kyedae signed onto 100 Thieves to create content for the esprits organisation, appearing in and managing various pieces of content on their YouTube videos, podcasts and social media channels. Her diagnosis of AML is rather serious, considering the cancer can be lethal if not treated immediately with chemotherapy and targeted therapeutical drugs. According to the National Cancer Institute, around 60% to 70% of adults with AML under the age of 60 can attain complete remission status if treated immediately.
