The game blew away other FPS titles on the streaming platform.
According to the data collected by Stream Charts, Riot Games’ first-person shooter, VALORANT, topped the charts on the popular streaming platform Twitch.
The tactical FPS title from Riot Games collected over 1.1 billion total hours watched from the start of January until 18 December. This figure is almost double what Counter-Strike: Global Offensive got, which was 684 million total hours watched.
Even so, CS:GO managed to trump VALORANT in the highest peak viewership numbers, where it saw 1.6 million viewers, with Epic Game’s own shooter, Fortnight, grabbing second place. VALORANT did share something with CS:GO – the biggest streamers on the platform. Both Gaules and Tarik, for CSGO and VALORANT respectively, saw big numbers on the platform Gaules, from Brazil, achieved over 126 million total hours watched, while the American Tarik has 69 million total hours watched on the platform.
It is no surprise that both games saw big numbers on Twitch, with Valve and Riot making the platform one of their official streaming channels for the big tournaments this year – IEM Rio Major and Champions Istanbul 2022.
Despite being released 10 years ago, CSGO still captivates the hearts of millions of players from all around the globe, based on the numbers seen here. The new kid VALORANT however has surpassed the big numbers with its own bigger numbers, captivating fans from around the world.
Other honourable mentions are Apex Legends coming in third and Fortnite in fourth.
