Although now in the past, November is still paying dividents to "Replays of the Week". Today, they're the highlights from the DreamHack Winter show over at Sweden and we have none other to thank for that but Taeja, Stephano, HerO, Thorzain, Bly, Sase and StarNaN.
1. Taeja vs Stephano
In a perfect world, having Taeja and Stephano playing a 30-minute macro game should render any argumentation on why is this a RotW game moot. However, the evil "Replays of the Week" overlord that will remain unnamed wants words so I have to convince you somehow.
We have Ravens fighting Ultras, refreshing lack of Brood Lords exemplary terran positioning and hatchery raids and one cornered Stephano gasping for breath and fighting for every inch of creep.
2. Bly vs StarNaN
Exiled on a distant and cold space platform, the protoss of Swedish decent prepared for another day at work. Doing the same old routine for the last few months had driven him to distances well beyond the frontiers of irritation. Fighting the swarm turned out to not be the experience he initially signed for.
He knew the paradigm down to the last detail: he and the zerg would trade blows and this would go on for about 25-30 minutes. Then, he'd either win with the experimental black hole weapon he was always given or his troops would catch that green infestation, the cure for which was what all that fuss was about.
Fifteen minutes later, as he watched another force of his slaughtered by not the units he expected, the protoss could only think "Bly, what are you doing? Bly? Stahp!".
3. HerO vs Thorzain
If you're feeling especially sadistic today, then this is a game you'd enjoy. In a weird "Can I kill more buildings than I can units" race with himself, HerO becomes Thorzain's torturer, his warp prisms his tools. Terran's body is quickly covered in scars from electricity, lasers and blades (both visible and invisible) and his fall into starvation ang agony is ugly to behold.
Or beautiful, if you're into that kind of stuff...
4. Bly vs Sase
While this games and his brother from #2 may look strikingly similar, they really are not that much alike. The first showcased how to use tier one and two units to bring protoss to his knees while this teaches the important lesson of how to recover when our 1-base roach fails miserably. And when the one above is an example of how blink stalkers are never enough to combat fliers, this here revisits an old rule of StarCraft: Never, EVER, base race against mutas!
5. Hero vs Taeja
There's no way in hell we do a DreamHack feature and not pick something from the grand final.
Ironically enough, "there's no way in hell" must have also been Taeja's final words before acknowledging the fact that he'll go out without winning a single set. To a teammate. With just one base. And just one unit.
