A grand clash between two Asian powerhouses gave start to the largest LoL tournament to date. In the opening game of the World Championship, Azubu Frost took the early lead in the group after a close, heavy-on-kills match.
Strangely enough, iG allowed most of the metagame powerhouses like Shen, Vladimir, Alistar and Ezreal to survive the ban phase, not even picking them themselves. Instead, they went for an extremely aggressive composition with Corki/Leona bot, Nocturne and Jarvan as a dunk-duo and Swain to directly counter Vlad. iG's coordination and strong early game gave them both a first blood on level one and four towers before minute 20.
The first team fights also went into iG's favor as Ezreal just could not withstand the dunk damage the Chinese were throwing at him but the scales slowly balanced out as he built up some armor. Although far behind in kills, two baron kills and some great team fights as follow-ups got Frost back into the game. This allowed them to make two strong pushes through the middle, get the inhibitor and win the game after winning their last team fight at the Nashor pit.
