With the Season 2 World Championship approaching, GosuGamers is here to explain which champions you will see in each lane and why. Why do you never see that rat guy (he's stealthed), what is the League of Draven, and just why is Ezreal picked so much? We go over this and more!
The start of the tournament might be good ten days away but that's actually close enough to keep us pumped up. With the crossing off of the dates that lead to October 4th and the $2,000,000 competition, we put our World Championship coverage in motion by examining the AD carries in the game and how likely are they to make an appearance at the closing event.
Alright, the elephant in the room is here. Ezreal is the god of AD Carries right now, with pick and win rates far above any other champion. It’s unusual for an AD Carry to get banned, but Ezreal has started to make people rethink that to that point that he was banned in every single game at the Korean nationals grand final – he’s just so ubiquitous.
Like Corki, Ezreal has everything a Carry needs, but in this case he has it with bells and whistles on. He is extremely versatile and can be tailored to be a perfect lane partner to every support, be that aggressive Leonas, passive Sorakas or well-rounded Sonas. He is widely considered to be the number one carry right now and you will be seeing a lot of him over the course of the finals.
Kog’Maw
Once upon a time, Kog’Maw was one of the most played carries in the League. Nicknamed The Tank Destroyer, Kog’Maw’s kit allowed him to lay down some insane damage in the late game, practically ignoring armor. The problem is that Kog’Maw takes a while to get going. His early game is so-so and he relies heavily on getting into a long game where he can just obliterate opponents. He fits really well into setups that want to go long or ones that can tank/peal off incoming threats, but in a more rounded team he is simply outshined by Ezreal and co.
This doesn't mean we're unlikely to see Kog'Maw in the Season 2 Championship. He's still one of Imaqtiepie's best champions and is Nunu's best buddy, the two making a machine-gun couple that can DPS targets with extreme quickness before said targets can take advantage of Kog'Maw's lack of escape mechanisms and squishiness.
