The Starcraft 2 tournament of ESWC incorporated the largest part of the prize money that was put aside for the cancelled Warcraft 3 event and is now to pay out 66,000 USD, distributed in the following order:

1st Place: 26.000 USD
2nd Place: 12.000 USD
3rd Place: 8.000 USD
4th Place: 4.000 USD
5th-8th Place: 2.000 USD
9th-16th Place: 1.000 USD

Within the scope of the opening ceremony on Thursday, a match of Starcraft 2 will ring in the start of the grand event, before the group stage comes to an actual start on Friday. The playoffs will follow on Saturday afternoon and the entire Sunday when the grand final is scheduled to close the day at 17:00 CET.
