LIVE REPORT: GOMTV GSL - Round of 32 Day 3

Full results from today's matches can be found in the bottom of this post.

14:30 - Before we end it, we have the winners interviews, with BoxeR and Hyperdub.

SlayerSBoxeR:

You made great use of mass orbital commands in late game TvT, do you think that this will remain a late game strategy or will players find ways to get a lot of orbital commands early on?

- In TvT when you go to lategame one of the problems he face is that he's supply blocked with mayn SCVs. to solve that problem you rely more on orbitals and mule and you get a lot of scans which is very helpful in lategame. another strategy you can apply in siege tank vs. siege tank is to drop mules at the siege tanks.

Who were your sparring partners for this round?

- They are all his team mates and future team mates in the SlayerS clan. For Terran he practiced with. For Zerg he practiced with SlayerS_Golden and NewDawn. For Protoss he mentioned Frozen.

Who is your most feared opponent in GSL4?

- The only players he has a lot of data are his team mates and although there's only one team mate in Code S he wants to play him as late as possible, and he admits he hasn't practiced much against him. Another player he doesn't want to play is ST_RainbOw. He does not really fear him, but it's more that he's on friendly terms with him.

***

oGsHyperdub:

You have gotten a reputation as a cheese player. Are you making a conscious effort to shake that off?

- He does not consciously try to use less cheese because of that. He used cheese previously because it was the most effective thing to do to win. But now that people more aware of cheese, he plays other builds.

How confident are you going in to the second HongUnPrime game after already playing such a draining game against him just a short while before?

- He did feel a little pressure about playing against HongUn again, but it was better than playing TheWind.

14:11 - Two Void Rays out, doing some harass.

A pylon with warped in gateway units outside. Moves in o the ramp! But it moves in too far. Big mistake! Hyperdub can defend it quite well.

Counter-attack with the marine, medivac marine force by Hyperdub. HongUn, having lost his units in that miserable attack, can not hold it off. GG from HongUn.

14:10 - Hyperdub gets a hellion inside HongUn's main, spots everything. Responds accordingly with a third barracks.

First Void Ray has reached the Terran base. Takes out the SCV building the third barracks.

14:08 - Bunker at the up side of the ramp, the early two zealots HongUn sent over there had to fall back. Second barracks being built for Hyperdub, Factory on the way.

Stargate for HongUn. Void Ray a la oGsMC on the way perhaps.

HongUn vs. Hyperdub @ Delta Quadrant

14:06 - The match is on, we have Protoss in the top left, the Terran top right.

14:00 - So, with BoxeR advancing 2-0, we will see Hyperdub and HongUn go at it in a direct qualification match, as they are both 1-1.

13:49 - TheWind really wants to get up at an even keel with BoxeR in terms of economy. He goes all-in with his banelings and roaches to the gold expansion, where we see a Planetary Fortress and tons of marines. Iiiit will goooo down... no! It doesn't!

***

Doesn't take that many more minutes until TheWind calls GG.

13:47 - BoxeR is rolling out once more, is really interested in taking out TheWind's strategical second expansion. Goes for the attack. Mutalisks, roaches, banelings are doing all they can to hold off the attack, but BoxeR is still able to take out the hatchery before the remains of his troops get killed off.

13:45 - Masses of banelings and zerglings out for TheWind. BoxeR needs more units to cope with it. Will try to macro up by taking his gold expansion. Marines and marauders going in to to TheWind's second expansion. Mutalisks can go in and run the units over.

13:43 - BoxeR moves out with his marine, tank, medivac troop. TheWind has a nice sum of baneling, roaches.

***

Mutalisks up in the air for TheWind. Wants to snipe the siege tanks. Takes out the siege tanks that are out of position.

13:40 - TheWind takes a second expansion. A set of roaches out.

BoxeR rolling out some siege tanks. Two medivacs being produced.

13:38 - TheWind defends accordingly.

***

Baneling Nest up for TheWind. BoxeR does not wanna do any all-in. Takes his natural expansion instead of putting pressure.

BoxeR vs. TheWind @ Metalopolis

13:35 - BoxeR in the top, TheWind in the bottom.

***

BoxeR doing proxy barracks in the middle. But TheWind is quick in scouting it. Thewind with hatchery and spawning pool popping at the same time.

13:34 - Now we'll have BoxeR against TheWind.

13:32 - Hyperdub dealing great damage to the expansions, and is lots ahead now. Seeing no chance to win, he ggs. Hyperdub now 1-1 in the group, same as HongUn.

13:26 - Protoss opting for a drop in the Terran main. The Warp Prism moving in. At the same time, Hyperdub wants to take out the Protoss expansion.

Warp Prism in position, but no units being warped in yet.

He is probably too busy with the battle in the middle. The high templar storm the marauders, but the medivacs healing greatly, HongUn doesn't have at all what he needs to fend off Hyperdub's units. Marauders dealing heavy damage on Hyperdub's bottom middle expansion.

13:20 - Protoss going out, taking his third as well.

HongUn wants to get his 2-2 gateway upgrade and some high templars thrown in to the mix. Hyperdub has tonnes of marines and marauders, backed by medivacs.

13:19 - Both players macroing up, I actually don't think any blood has been shed at all.

13:16 - Hyperdub scans the base, sees the expand and the three gateway and robotics bay.

Seeing this, Hyperdub moves out, with eight marines and two marauders. Set to apply some early pressure, Hyperdub takes a very early third expansion.

Now in the middle of the map, he has most of the map control.

HongUn vs. Hyperdub @ Shakuras Plateau

13:13 - We have the winner versus the loser of the previous games, HongUn winning his game and Hyperdub losing his.

***

Both players taking their natural expansions, but HongUn let Hyperdub see the double gas so perhaps the Terran will overextend himself, but it seems he is playing without any stress.

Gearing up to be a nice Protoss versus Terran game, on Shakuras Plateau.

12:59 - Some skrimishes all over the map. BoxeR putting some pressure on the bottom left expansion, taking it out with marauders and tanks.

GG from Hyperdub. BoxeR 1-0 in the group.

12:53 - We're now sitting here, waiting to see what BoxeR will do.

Perhaps a repo of the good ol "that is many tank? yes?"

A ridiculous amount if siege tanks out. SlayerSBoxeR with marines and marauders, medivacs. He still doesn't attack, the tank line of Hyperdub is something he does not want to dive in to.

***

Two Fusion Cores up for BoxeR, we'll see battlecruisers.

12:51 - BoxeR is now heaps ahead in economy. Hyperdub is really crippled, but I'm not sure he knows HOW behind he is.

BoxeR landing all his Orbital Comands at expansion places. BoxeR is getting three times as many minerals as Hyperdub.

12:47 - BoxeR doing the drop at the bottom right entrance. Hyperdub is quick in intercepting it with his marines.

BoxeR playing quite aggressive. Is now pushing in to the main of Hyperdub. Scans and siege tanks all over the place. With BoxeR dropping siege tanks right inside the main, backed up by the other siege tanks down below the cliff. Takes out two factories.

***

Whoa, nice. Five Command Centers on the way. The perfect late-game Terran. BoxeR will sack all his SCVs and instead go for MULEs.

12:45 - Hyperdub's army is a bit more Viking heavy, opposed to BoxeR's marine/siege tank heavy troop. Two medivacs out for BoxeR, seems like we'll be getting a drop soon.

12:39 - Both players teching up, plus taking their natural expansions. A bit of a slow game right now.

***

Two Banshees for Boxer. Hyperdub has Engineering Bay on the way, wanting to lay down some turrets.

***

Banshee moving in to the expansion, but gets greeted by Viking missiles. Killed off. Second banshee trying to get in, but Hyperdub's scans are correctly laid down and can kill off it as well.

BoxeR vs. Hyperdub @ Shakuras Plateau

12:36 - Game has begun. BoxeR in the bottom right, Hyperdub in the top left. Lays down a barracks at the gas of the expansion, but not really an all-in or so.

12:30 - We have SlayerSBoxeR against oGsHyperdub coming up soon. Shakuras Plateau.

12:27 - HongUn moves in to the gold expansion position of TheWind. The Corruptors focus on the Colossi, but the stalkers are too many for the Zerg to handle. GG, HongUn up 1-0 in the group.

12:24 - TheWind feels the need to attack, moving in with his zerglings to take out the two Colossi, but he does not manage to take any out. At the same time he runs in with hydralisks, but HongUn has too many stalkers and colossi to be lose this. Holds it off, and HongUn is now in a great position.

Corruptors out for TheWind. But the Protoss army is so powerful, 180 in supply. HongUn taking the gold expansion. TheWind has no hive tech yet.

12:33 The stalkers get chased back to the Protoss natural by zerglings.

HongUn with Colossi on the way. Also has taken his second expansion.

12:21 - Fungal Growth stops Blink, so the Infestors might be a great counter to the Blink Stalkers.

HongUn kills off the soon-to-be-complete expansion at the gold expansion of TheWind.

***

Tonnes of Zerglings and Hydralisks for TheWind. But HongUn with perhaps 20 or so stalkers. TheWind with a nice quick attack on the stalkers, fungal growthing and taking out a few stalkers with the zerglings.

12:19 - HongUn opting for the Blink Stalker ball. Six warp gates for HongUn.

TheWind taking the gold expansion. Hydralisks out, Infestation Pit being evolved.

12:17 - While the Protoss expansion has been up for a long while, the Hatchery from Zerg just got finished. HongUn is teching, Cybernetics Core is up.

TheWind has spotted the expansion now, realizing he's quite behind on both eco and tech.

Game 1 - HongUn vs. TheWind @ Xel'Naga Caverns

12:14 - HonGun, at '1, has placed his pylon outside his base, near the expansion. Seems we will be seeing a fast expansion from the Protoss. Yup, Nexus. Then adding Forge just below the ramp.

TheWind goes regular spawning pool and has not scouted HongUn's fast expansion.

12:10 - First game will be on Xel'Naga Caverns.

12:00 - We're back! We have HongUn going up against TheWind in just a matter of minutes. Protoss against Zerg!

And later, we have SlayerSBoxeR against Hyperdub, a Terran versus Terran.

11:00 - Now we'll be taking a little break until the S-Class matches begin.

HongUn vs. TheWind
SlayerSBoxeR vs. Hyperdub

10:51 - Lots and lots of Vikings now for Top. The Marauder, Medivac, Viking attack proves very successful. Moving in on Ace, taking out the Colossi-backed up gateway force. Ace types out. 2-1 to Top, who moves on to the Round of 16.

10:48 - Both players taking their third base. Both players have scouted the expansions.

10:47 - Top goes for another attack, but this time Ace can really do some great damage, the Colossi are doing a great deal of damage to Top's barracks units.

***

Counter-attack from Ace, but Top holds it off.

10:43 - Top going for the counter attack, successively using the two Banshees so the marauders can raze the natural expansion's assimilator.

The banshee gets taken out.

10:41 - Ace goes for the attack! Advancing up on Top's main, it in the start looked like it would go well for Ace, laying down some really nice force fields, but Top was able to take out the Immortals, so the Marauders could roam free and force Ace to fall back.

10:39 - No cloak for the banshee, canceled it as he was Observers. Stim and Concussive shells being researched though. Ace seems to have been cutting probes quite a lot, really wanting to get some more Immortals out.

Ace with a great number of sentries.

Game 3 - Ace vs. Top @ Steppes of War

10:35 - Aaand we have the third game. Ace is at the bottom, and Top in the... well... Top.

***

Three Barracks + starport for Top. Ace goes four Warp Gate and an Observer. A very solid build.

***

Banshee out for Top. Observer for Ace, so they'll both be able to scout each other in full shape.

10:29 - High templar on the way, chrono boosting the psi storm research right now.

Ace moving in once again on the Terran's pocket expansion. The Command Center gets razed after hindering Top to move down with a well-placed force field.

Protoss stalkers, zealots and sentries run up the ramp, and Top sees no chance in hell to defend it, and types out. 1-1!

10:27 - Protoss breaks inside Top's expansion by killing the rocks. Beautiful micro management by Ace, holding off his zealots to save the charge. Kills off the expansion, and seems eager to go in and finish it. But moves back.

10:24 - A handful of Dark Templar sneaking inside Top's base. Have killed some workers, but top is quick in scanning. But the dark templar dies after a while.

Counter-attack from Top, going into the natural expansion of Ace. Marine and marauders stimming in, against the three stalkers and four sentries. Some great force fields being laid down. Wow. Protoss holds it off.

10:22 - Both players taking their natural expansions. Top with a Marauder/Marine mix and a bunker up side the ramp in the main.

Ace opts for a Twilight Council and then a Dark Shrine. We saw dark templars last game. Ace likes'em!

Game 2 - Top vs. Ace @ Jungle Basin

10:19 - Second game has started. We have Ace as Protoss at '11, and Top at '5.

No strange stuff going on for either player, playing normally with Cybernetics Core for Protoss and Orbital Command for Terran. Both players have scouted each other.

Top makes sure to kill the scouting Probe before he adds his Tech Lab.

10:16 - Hey guys, after some technical issues we are now on track with the live reporting.

We have just seen oGsTOP defeat Ace on Scrap Station.

The first match was forfeited by RexZanDarke, who was unable to come due to personal issues.
