I really wanted to make this a long article, but i just can't chew anymore on the same "StarCraft II delayed" piece of [insert word].
Over the past 3 days a gaming expo IgroMir (Gameworld) was taking place in Moscow, Russia. Blizzard having not missed a single opportunity to promote their products had to attend it, bringing playable StarCraft II with them.
Blizzard, of course, did a small presentation and a short Q&A session. Nothing particularly new was demonstrated, just the old Battle.net 2.0 features: inter-game chat and achievements; as well as the opportunity to make a 3rd person shooter and a 2d arcade as a StarCraft II map and so on.
Here's what Chirs Sigaty, StarCraft II lead produced had to say:
A: Tomorrow (laugh). No, of course not. As usual we at Blizzard do not speak of dates. Beta is planned to kick off in 2010, as soon as we feel the game is ready to hit the shelves, it will.
Q: Is it possible to play Single Player campaign without being connected to Battle.net?
A: Yes, but you won't be able to unlock achievements.
Q: It's been announced that there will be three different campaigns, second and third to be released as expansions later on. Will they be any different concept-wise?
A: All three campaigns will share a common story line, but every single one will be self sufficient.”
FYI: Release is still scheduled for the Spring of 2010, assuming Beta last for 3-4 months as planned, it should start somewhere in January or early February.
Here are some LQ pictures from the expo: (click to enlarge)

P.S. Yes, i've been at the expo, and yes, i've played StarCraft II. All in all it's good, feels like a mix of Command and Conquer and StarCraft, 20/80.
