With Mobile Legends now active in China, one of the country's legendary esports organisations is joining the fray.
Invictus Gaming (IG), one of the most iconic esports organisations from China, has officially joined the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports scene. They will debut their lineup in the Mobile Legends World Champion Challenge showmatch in the China MLBB official launch festival.
While no further details have been officially revealed, it is expected that IG will compete in the upcoming Chinese MLBB league.
The launch of China MLBB was also attended by ONIC Philippines, who were the center point of the World Champion Challenge Showmatch as the reigning MLBB world champions. Omega Empress, who won last year's MLBB Women's Invitational, were also present. The showmatch also featured several Chinese former professional players from different games such as Chun “Sccc” Song from Dota 2 and Shi Yu “Mlxg” Liu from League of Legends.
IG is one of the oldest esports organisations in China. Founded in 2011, it took the esports industry by storm, winning a world championship in just the second year since it was established when its Dota 2 team won The International 2012.
While the news that IG has joined MLBB esports is a welcome one for the future of the game in China, the team is not without its problems. They recently took a break from Dota 2 with “various factors” stated to be the cause. However, they were also able to secure a major investment from Huya and Young Sport that enabled them to recruit various star for their League of Legends squad.
