MSC 2024 is over, but looking back at the tournament after its rebranding, it was quite successful – although viewership numbers were down.

Over the past weekend, we saw Selangor Red Giants defy expectations and take down Falcons AP.Bren in a magnificent grand final, becoming the champions of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup 2024. While the event had seen a rebrand as it moved out of being solely for Southeast Asia teams, this year also saw the teams playing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the Esports World Cup. With that came a gigantic prize pool, as the game opened up to a wider global audience – but that did not make the viewership go up over last year’s insane numbers.
At MSC 2022 and 2023, we saw 2,8 million and 3,6 million peak viewership numbers, respectively. However, MSC 2024 saw only 2.3 million at its peak, which came during the stellar grand final. These numbers could be down considering the difference in time zone with the EWC being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – meaning that the general SEA audiences were not able to keep up with the action. Even so, these numbers are huge and tell another story within the context of the EWC.
With the sheer number of games involved at the EWC, MLBB is standing way above the rest, as the 2.3 million viewership peak is the most watched game for the event itself – doubling its closest challenger. Even in its Group Stage, MSC 2024 saw nearly 1.2 million viewers watching as Fnatic ONIC and See You Soon battled in a tiebreaker.
Although the EWC is still ongoing, it is unlikely that any title will come even close to MLBB, and with the Women's Invitational 2024 still to come, fans are still in for more amazing action from the title.
