For a few days now the Mobile Legends Professional League in Malaysia has been going through the stages of its playoffs, as teams hoped to claim the Season 11 crown and secure their spot at MSC 2023. These playoffs have easily been the most highly contested ever, with not a single series being a clean sweep. For TODAK and Team SMG, even though they had a seeding straight into the upper bracket semi-finals, nothing was easy. There could only be one champions, and it was quickly clear which team it would be.
After a beautiful Regular Season, which saw SMG go completely unbeaten, it seemed as though it would be a walk in the park for the team as they hoped to deny The Swordfish another MPL MY title. However, as their first series dropped them into the lower bracket, SMG was forced to make a miracle run to reach the grand finals – which involved taking down both Team Lunatix and HomeBois in some amazing series. As they entered the grand finals, TODAK were waiting patiently, hoping to take their revenge for the Regular Season defeat.
While it was a best-of-seven series, one player stood out at all times, as Muhammad Danial “CikuGais” Bin Mohamad Fuad absolutely dominated with his Karrie performances. The first three games of the series saw him taking the MVP – with 800+ Gold Per Minute (GPM) in every game, as well as insane damage too. It seemed as though TODAK were on a completely different level today, with every player showing world-class performances, while SMG just seemed lost when it came down to dealing with anything thrown at them.
It took only two losses in MPL MY Season 11 for Team SMG to fall to second place, even after looking completely unstoppable throughout the entire Regular Season. While HomeBois settled for third place, TODAK is the team which has shown that they deserved the title of MPL MY Season 11 champions more than everyone else. Not only do The Swordfish claim their third-ever MPL MY title, but the team will now become the Malaysian representative for the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup later this year.
