Team Wasians disqualified from NACT Spring 2023

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang may be fairly new to North America, but their version of the MPL has already been hit with some drama.

North America has quickly become a household region in MLBB, especially after BloodThirstyKings made such an epic showing at the M3 World Championships. After that fantastic run, NA continued to impress at M4, although they only managed to finish in fifth/sixth place. With all of that, Moonton decided to give the region its own version of the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) with the North American Challenger Tournament. With its first iteration currently underway, Spring 2023, the region has already been witness to a disqualification.

Team Wasians was disqualified last week after a formal inquiry from Moonton found them guilty of “piloting”. What this entails is another player using someone’s account – and is in direct violation of the rules set out by Moonton for fair play within the MPL and its other leagues. Having occurred on the weekend of April 8-9, Moonton’s investigation examined all accounts and login devices associated with the player and found the play Churro guilty of piloting eggo’s account. The player in question, Churro, not being a part of the official Wasian roster, meant that stern forms of punishment were handed out to the team and players.

The NACT committee involved with this investigation had the following to say on the matter,

We understand the complexity of the local mobile esports environment and strive to make NACT as sustainable as possible, providing a better and incredible experience for the North America community. We apologize to everyone affected by this event, and please continue to support the tournament!”

The NACT Spring 2023 wraps up its Regular Season this coming weekend, April 23-24, with the playoffs taking place in early May. With MSC 2023 being a part of the first place prize, it will be interesting to see if BTK can push for another chance in the spotlight or if the international roster of TheOhioBrothers can maybe squeeze them out when it comes down to it.
