Over the recent weekend, the Mobile Legends Professional League in Philippines had its eleventh Regular Season come to a close, with six teams making it through to playoffs – while two were eliminated. While TNC Pro Team were already assured elimination, and Bren Esports were already locked into the top spot, it was up to the rest of the teams to fight for their shot at securing second, all the way through to avoiding elimination.
Blacklist stumble
With a chance to knock ECHO out of the number two spot, Blacklist International had a tough final week on the cards – with Bren Esports as their first challenger. Unfortunately for the multiple MPL championship holders, Bren’s current playstyle was way beyond their reach, and not even the OhMyV33nus Estes could stop what could only be described as a stomp. With ECHO having won both their series, Blacklist had no hope of taking the second seed spot, and it was even less likely when they suffered a shock defeat to Nexplay EVOS on the final day. Even with two defeats, Blacklist managed to hold on to the number three spot, only just beating out RSG Slate PH.
Nexplay eliminated
A tough Season 11 for Nexplay EVOS culminated in their eventual elimination from MPL PH, with only four victories recorded through the Regular Season. While their final victory came over Blacklist on the final day, it was not enough for the team to leapfrog Smart Omega Esports at the last second. Had Omega lost to TNC, there would have been a high chance that they would have been the team to be eliminated, but that was not to be the case, unfortunately.
The six teams heading to playoffs will now have a fairly lengthy break of over two weeks as they prepare for the final challenge. For Bren Esports, MPL PH Season 11 is a great chance for them to return to the pinnacle of PH MLBB, but they will have every challenge thrown at them once the playoffs begin on May 4, 2023.
