The final day of the Swiss Stage at the League of Legends World Championship 2024 saw six teams—Weibo Gaming, DPlus KIA, G2 Esports, Bilibili Gaming, FlyQuest, and Team Liquid—battling for the last three slots in the Knockout Stage. All were tied at 2-2, needing one final win to secure their quarterfinal spots.
By the end of the day, Weibo Gaming, Bilibili Gaming, and FlyQuest claimed victory, each winning 2-1, and advanced to the quarterfinals.
Weibo Gaming defeat DPlus KIA 2-1
In the first game, DPlus KIA drafted a strong lineup with Rumble top, Lee S in the jungle, LeBlanc mid, Kalista as AD carry, and Renata Glasc as support. Weibo Gaming responded with Jax top, Nocturne jungle, Orianna mid, and Caitlyn-Lux in the bot lane.
The game was evenly matched, with both teams trading kills and objectives. DPlus KIA eventually found a 2,000-gold lead through map control. A pivotal Baron fight saw DPlus KIA wipe out Weibo Gaming, pushing down the top lane and taking the Nexus after a 42-minute battle.
Weibo Gaming returned with a vengeance in Game 2, picking Yone for Yuanhao "Xiaohu" Li, along with Gnar top, Brand jungle, Ezreal, and Alistar bot. DPlus KIA drafted Camille, Nocturne, Aurora, Kai’Sa, and Nautilus. Weibo Gaming outplayed their opponents in the mid lane, snowballing a lead with precise map control. After a dominant 29-minute game and a 10,000-gold lead, Weibo Gaming evened the series, taking down DK’s Nexus.
In Game 3, DPlus KIA drafted Gragas top, Vi jungle, Yone mid, Miss Fortune bot, and Rell support, while Weibo Gaming selected Gnar top, Morgana jungle, Aurora mid, Ezreal ADC, and Braum support. Weibo Gaming secured an early four-kill advantage. Although DK tried to fight back with Hyeon "Aiming" Yoo's Miss Fortune leading the charge, their mistakes gave Weibo a window to take Baron. Despite a strong DK defence, Weibo Gaming eventually claimed victory in 35 minutes with a 19-7 kill lead, winning the series 2-1.
Bilibili Gaming outlast G2 Esports 2-1
G2 Esports started the series with Gnar top, Nocturne jungle, Miss Fortune bot, and Rell support, while Bilibili Gaming went for Jax top, Skarner jungle, LeBlanc mid, Kai’Sa bot, and Alistar support. BLG dominated the early game, with Elk’s Kai’Sa leading the charge. After a decisive Baron fight, Bilibili destroyed G2’s Nexus in 34 minutes with a 21-7 kill lead.
In Game 2, G2 drafted Yasuo top, Skarner jungle, Sylas mid, Ezreal bot, and Rakan support, while Bilibili responded with Gnar, Xin Zhao, Neeko, Xayah, and Renata Glasc. G2 took control early on, securing kills and objectives across the map. After 29 minutes and a 16-5 kill lead, G2 levelled the series, taking down BLG’s Nexus.
The third and final game saw BLG on the blue side with Rumble top, Skarner jungle, Sylas mid, Ezreal bot, and Rell support. G2 went for Renekton top, Xin Zhao jungle, Ryze mid, Kalista bot, and Taric support. It was an even game, with both teams trading kills, but BLG gained a significant gold lead in the late game. A well-executed Baron play allowed them to open up G2’s base and secure the series after 34 minutes with a 20-18 kill lead.
FlyQuest dismantle Team Liquid 2-1
In Game 1, FlyQuest drafted K’Sante top, Skarner jungle, Orianna mid, Ashe, and Lulu bot, while Team Liquid picked Jax top, Xin Zhao jungle, Syndra mid, Jhin, and Tahm Kench bot. The early game was slow, but FlyQuest gained momentum in the mid-game, securing a 17-4 kill lead and winning in 38 minutes.
In Game 2, FlyQuest selected K’Sante, Vi, Ahri, Kalista, and Senna, while Team Liquid went for Rumble top, Nocturne jungle, Tristana mid, Xayah bot, and Rakan support. TL dominated the early game, securing a 10,000-gold lead and winning after 32 minutes with a 21-9 kill lead.
In the decisive Game 3, FlyQuest drafted Galio top, Skarner jungle, Yone mid, Xayah bot, and Rell support, while TL went for Rumble top, Sejuani jungle, Kled mid, Kai’Sa bot, and Alistar support.
FlyQuest outplayed TL from the start, taking every objective and shutting down TL’s ganks. After a dominant 28 minutes and a 17-3 kill lead, FlyQuest secured the series.
With these victories, Weibo Gaming, Bilibili Gaming, and FlyQuest move on to the Knockout Stage in Paris for the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, despite strong showings, DPlus KIA, G2 Esports, and Team Liquid are eliminated from the tournament, finishing in 9th-11th place and earning $77,875 in consolation.
