Watch out for all the biggest moves during the League of Legends off-season transfer market.
The off-season transfer market is finally here as the League of Legends professional scene goes back to its slumber before the season restarts next year. It has only been a week since Worlds 2023 was concluded and just three days later, T1 became the first team to finalise its 2024 season roster. They brought back the same starting five alongside the return of legendary coach, Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun.
The Worlds 2023 champions were quick to resign three of their players to new contracts given how well they performed during the tournament. Aside from T1, two former world champion organisations in Korea also went through its own roster shuffles to secure some of the most sought-after players. First was Dplus KIA who, not only tied down Heo “Heo “ShowMaker” Su” Su to a multi-year contract, but also brought in new reinforcements for the star mid-laner.
DRX was the next organisation to finalise its roster for the 2024 season with seven first-team players. However, the majority of DRX's squad are Academy and Challenger squad players who have made the move up to the LCK. While their top lane and jungle roles have already been secured, the five new members to join the starting roster will be making their official LCK debuts next year.
Transfer Market Moves This Week
The LCK have been busy in the first week of the transfer market as BRION is currently in the midst of rebuilding its roster, lacking just a support player to round up its starting line-up. Top-eight finisher at Worlds 2023 KT Rolster is also hard at work with its rebuild as they are currently lacking a toplaner and a support player to finalise its roster. KT have also gone on to add the likes of Worlds 2022 championship-winning toplaner Chang-hyeon “Pyosik” Hong and AD carry HyeokGyu “Deft” Kim to the team.
There have also been murmurings of Rogue coming back to the LEC, which will no doubt bring back plenty of its fans as well. The org was always a top contender in the LEC as they have won one regional title last season to go with two second-place finishes. Rogue was also a consistent contender at Worlds where they have only improved from their last three appearances.
As we are just one week after the end of Worlds 2023, expect plenty of movement in the coming weeks as plenty of teams will be looking to rebuild its rosters to compete for the biggest titles next season.
