fnatic worlds 2022 hylissang upset

Fnatic loses both Upset and Hylissang after catching COVID-19 with Worlds 2022 just days away

Fnatic loses two key players just days before Worlds 2022.

With the League of Legends World Championship just days away, Fnatic can't seem to shake off their bad luck. Fnatic has confirmed that two of their starting players, Elias "Upset" Lipp and Zdravets "Hylissang" Galabov has tested positive for COVID-19, which will inevitably delay their trip to North America.

Of course, this isn't the first time Fnatic has been in this position. At Worlds last year, Upset was forced to miss the group stage games last year after having to attend to urgent family matters. With no other stand-in available, Fnatic was forced to call upon their academy player, Louis “Bean” Schmitz. In the end, Fnatic's run at Worlds 2021 started and ended on the group stage.

This time around, however, it appears that both players are "feeling okay", which bodes well for their fans hoping to see Fnatic make it past the play-in stage. While it usually takes about a week or two to recover from COVID-19 these days fully, it could very well mean that Fnatic will not have its starting line-up when Worlds starts.

Slated to begin this Thursday, September 29 Fnatic's first match of Group A will be against none other than Evil Geniuses. Hopefully both Upset and Hylissang will be able to join up with the rest of the team by then.
