Riot made a small post on the NA forums talking about their sources of inspiration and one of the currently developed champions: Ao Shin, a powerful storm dragon and guardian of the natural world.
The champion looks to be heavily influenced by Asian cultures. According to the article Ao is a family line of mythological dragon kings, who rule water and weather. In addition Shin can mean many things, some of which are prosperity or a rising storm. In that way the champion becomes dual focused on helping allies and simultaneously harming enemies.
With Ao Shin, Riot are trying to expand the champion models pool, finally adding a dragon (main form) to the game. The article talks about challenges regarding its movement on the map and different dimensions compared to most available champions. Last but not least, the article underlines that Ao Shin will NOT be the next released champion, it is just an early design that is likely going to be altered during the development stages.
