Hearthstone: The Departure, Part 2 - Hamilton Chu

Days after Ben Brode has left Blizzard as Hearthstone game director, Hamilton Chu, Executive Producer of the Team 5, has also left the organization.

One of Chu's main responsibilities was providing leadership and directions for delivering the best Blizzard-quality gaming experience to all players. In his role, Chu was making sure that all planning and business operations management within Hearthstone are working properly, so it’s safe to say that until now this ex-Hearthstone team member was tanking all issues whenever necessary.

In the early morning of April 22, 2018, Hamilton Chu announced on his Twitter account that April 20 was the final day for him, working as an Executive producer for Hearthstone, only days after Ben Brode's announced resignation.

Although Hamilton was lesser known that the public figure, Brode, the two men have been instrumental in Hearthstone and their back to back departure has spurned rumors that they may be working on something together as their next step. The evidence for many has not just been the timings but updated Twitter bio's both stating "Starting up something new" and previous relationship with the Hearthstone team.

Ben Brode has said in the past:

There is no team like the Hearthstone team. People have come and gone over the 10 years Hearthstone has been in development, but there’s something special about the Soul of the Team. We knew our most important product wasn’t the game, but the team itself. A great team can do great things, and I think the Hearthstone team is the greatest. It isn’t just a job. It’s a shared passion. We get to come to work and focus on the game we love and try to make it better every day.

For now, there is no further word on what those new projects and encounters may be.  Before Blizzard Entertainment, Hamilton Chu worked as a producer on Halo and Halo 2.
