The GEICO Summer Brawl #1 lures some of the brightest personalities in Hearthstone for two nights of customized deckbuilding.
By now, every Hearthstone fan is probably aware of the unique nature of the Challengestone tournaments. Organized by Rania “UnderflowR” Hatzi together with Octavian “Kripparrian” Morosan and Tempo Storm, Challengestone gives the players one specific rule for deckbuilding and forces them to be creative under restrictions.
Brian Kibler and Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh became the champions of the first two editions of Challengestone but by tomorrow they might get a new buddy in their exclusive club. The GEICO Summer Brawl takes after the successful formula of Hatzi’s brainchild and aims to deliver some more deckbuilding entertainment tonight and tomorrow.
Players of all specialties and different regions have been summoned. Alongside usual suspects like Sebastian “Forsen” Fors, Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy and Brian Kibler, the GEICO Brawl viewership will get to see some lesser televised names in action.
One of them is Johnny “Ratsmah” Lee, one of world’s best known arena players. For Ratsmah, this will be his first televised tournament, and possibly a break-out performance. Another name to watch for is Haiyun “Eloise” Tang. The Chinese player drew the short straw in Challengestone #2 as she got paired with eventual champion Kolento but is given a chance for redemption as she faces Jeffrey “Trump” Shih in the opening match of the tournament.
$4,000 are on the line, with $2,000 going to the champion. A total of four matches will be played tonight, starting at 16:00 EDT / 22:00 CEST.
22:00 CEST – Eloise vs Trump
23:00 CEST – Forsen vs Ratsmah
00:00 CEST – Semifinal #1
01:00 CEST – Dog vs Kibler
Update: Due to unknown reasons, Eloise does not play in the tournament and was thus replaced by Janne "Savjz" Mikkonen.
